Have Wings, Will Travel
Who wants to deal with airport security lines and and travel-size toiletries? For those looking to purchase or charter their own set of private wings, here's what's new and soon to fly into a horizon near you.

 

Future: Cessna Citation Columbus

Announced earlier this year is the Cessna Citation Columbus, Cessna’s largest business jet. Capable of transcontinental travel, it can accommodate up to 10 passengers and has an expected delivery date of 2014 and a $27-million entry price point. www.cessna.com.

New: Cessna XLS+

A new delivery by Cessna this year is the Cessna XLS+. An upgraded version of the XLS, the business jet features larger seats and among other improvements, the most advanced diagnostic system on any Cessna to date.

Future: Dassault Falcon 900LX

Arriving in mid-2010 is the Dassault Falcon 900LX. The business jet is a new and improved version of the popular Falcon 900EX EASy and has an extended range of 4,800 nautical miles. The 900LX will be more environmentally efficient than its predecessor and its winglets, a new feature on the aircraft, reduce drag and improve climb performance. The jet can fly from New York to Moscow, Paris to Beijing and Mumbai to London without needing to refuel. All for $39,450,000. www.dassaultfalcon.com.

New: Challenger 605, Bombardier Flexjet

The 12-passenger Bombardier Challenger 605, which debuted earlier this year, features an entertainment system with XM satellite radio, DirecTV, Airborne Office and audio/video at the touch of a button. Plus, each piece in the aircraft is custom built, incorporating hand-crafted woods and fine leathers. New: hawker beechcraft 4000

Delivered this past June, the new Hawker Beechcraft 4000 strikes the perfect balance of speed and luxury for a super-mid-size jet. The interiors offer a six-foot-high stand-up cabin with fully customizable furnishings. (Think fine fabrics, leathers and woods.) The airplane features custom cabinetry throughout the galley and cabin, and the baggage area is accessible during flight. The 12-passenger aircraft can make transcontinental trips without refueling. Aaaah the open sea, where adventures seem as limitless as the waves slapping the shore. From megayachts to semi-custom yachts and a few charters, here are some of the newest picks for your seaside voyage.

Ferretti Yachts Altura 840

In celebration of its 40th anniversary this year, Ferretti Yachts has unveiled the Altura 840. The “villa on the sea” features teak interiors with boiserie-paneled walls. Three cabins, each with a private bathroom, offer ample guest accommodations. Burger Boat Ingot

Launched in June, the 153-foot Ingot is undeniably a beauty. The megayacht offers 5,025 square feet of interior space decorated in a neo-Classical motif. Four large V.I.P. staterooms include king-size beds and in-suite bathrooms. (The master suite’s bathroom even has heated flooring.) The four-level yacht’s walls are paneled in raised mahogany. Christensen Yachts M/Y Casino Royale

The tri-deck 163-foot M/Y Casino Royale by Christensen Yachts was completed this past summer and, as its name hints, has a Bond-esque theme. The walls along the spiral staircase are decorated by Bond Girl silhouettes and illuminated by LED lights. The interior boasts an impressive 6,900 square feet and features custom stonework throughout. The yacht cruises at a maximum speed of 18 knots with a range of 4,500 nautical miles. Lürssen Kismet

Looking to charter a yacht instead of purchasing one? Check out the Kismet, a 223-foot motor yacht by Lürssen Yachts. The behemoth features four cabins, plus a master suite that includes a king-size bed, office, library and walk-in closet. Also aboard the ship are a disco, a steam room, a massage room and a formal dining table. Kismet is equipped for travelers to live on board for months at a time without docking at port.
