The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers this holiday season to be bell ringers at the Army’s famous Red Kettles, a program that was first developed in 1891. Today, donations to Red Kettles are vital in helping The Salvation Army support 25 million Americans annually with a diverse range of life-transforming social service programs, including: food for the hungry, relief for disaster survivors, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, adult rehabilitation, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and opportunities for underprivileged children. In fact, eighty-two cents of every dollar donated to The Salvation Army are used to support those services in 5,000 communities nationwide.
