Fabulosity- Talking Fashion with Beverly Kidd

E-mail Print PDF

"Fabulosity" with Corbin Chamberlin- The latest on Scottsdale and Phoenix arts, culture and fashion from the most glamorous guy we know.

This week I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing Beverly Kidd, newscaster for AZ Family on Channel 3, on the topic she and I both love- fashion. Kidd is quite contrary to stereotypical newscasters- no ill-fitting black suits or tragic outfits to be found. Beverly Kidd is a rare exception to the mundane ensembles that inevitably appear on my TV.

With striking colors and perfectly-tailored clothes that compliment her body, Kidd definitely has an eye. While on a trip to New York to visit Dr.Oz, Kidd wore her tantalizing red boots from Betsy Johnson and matching red dress, while surrounded by a herd of fellow journalist and newspeople in the typical gray, navy and black situations. This pretty much sums up the character of Kidd: delightful, passionate and colorful.

She also shared with me how she saw a certain celebrity in the Oz studio, and ran after her, starstruck, "like a intern" Read on to see where she enjoys shopping locally and walks us through her most recent splurge.

Fabulosity- How to Buy a Birkin and spot a Firkin

"Fabulosity" with Corbin Chamberlin- The latest on Scottsdale and Phoenix arts, culture and fashion from the most glamorous guy we know.

Simply Divine

When one thinks of the Hermes Birkin Bag, visions of Fifth Avenue ladies strolling to lunch and the iconic pumpkin orange color instantly come to mind. Hermes is the definition of luxury. As Glenda Bailey states, “Hermes- you will love it today, and have it forever”. Hermes produces products that remain classic and chic in these days where disposable fashions are abundant.

Jane Birkin was the inspiration for the Birkin bag. On a flight from Paris, she was discussing with the CEO of Hermes, Jean-Louis Dumas, how difficult it was to find a quality weekend bag. This inspired Dumas, and so the Birkin was born. The Birkin is viewed as the holy grail to fashionistas, which no other bag can ever surpass. The style starts at $8,450 for the smallest- a 32- and can go as high as $96,000 for the Himalaya Crocodile.

"Fabulosity" with Corbin Chamberlin- The latest on Scottsdale and Phoenix arts, culture and fashion from the most glamorous guy we know.

Fashion Week, encounters with Karl Lagerfeld at Cafe de Flore in Paris and excursions to the Hamptons; all in a days work for Peter Davis. My fabulous friend Peter is the definition of a chic New York socialite. I love to hear his divine stories- “Corbin, this week I am going to be attending the Vogue India Party”. Besides being a handsome devil, Peter very well could be one of the best-dressed men ever. With his Margiela smoking jackets and tortoiseshell Lanvin shades Mr. Davis looks like he was pulled right from an episode of Mad Men, but much more glamorous. What I love most about Peter is he does not just sit there and look pretty. He is out bring attention to causes. He is a activist in the LGBT community, And while protesting the prop 8 his combat outfit of choice is a dashing suit and bow-tie. Here is a glimpse into the life and times of Peter Davis.
