Home furnishing fiends have plenty to celebrate this summer. Scottsdale Quarter, near Kierland Commons, just opened two of our favorite furnishings stores: West Elm and Williams-Sonoma Home, both Valley firsts.

The West Elm aesthetic is undeniably modern with global and natural inspirations, and the 15,000-sq.-ft. shop showcases the brand’s contemporary couches, clean-lined desks, cushy throw pillows and much more. A few feet away, Williams-Sonoma Home is bursting with casual elegance in the form of refined furniture and classy accessories. Plus, the store boasts a custom upholstery program that includes more than 77 furniture frames and 100 different fabrics. www.westelm.com; www.wshome.com.
Purifying Genius
Air purifiers aren’t supposed to look good, right? Wrong. The Rabbitair Minusa2 model destroys germs and allergens, and is superquiet, eco-friendly and stylish to boot. Prices start at about $460 for a unit that covers 700 residential square feet. www.rabbitair.com.
The Big Chill
Besides its striking good looks, The Ice Chair by Kasper Salto ($569 without arms; $787 with arms) is also quite versatile. The sleek seat is suitable for indoor or outdoor use, and it’s now available in a variety of modern hues. www.suiteny.com.
Dancing in the Shade
The Mirasol Flamenco Umbrella ($2,600 for umbrella; $425 for stand) is inspired by the flowing ruffles of a flamenco dancer’s skirt—and adds some much-needed panache to the patio parasol. www.sbumbrella.com.
Number One Fan
Getting through an Arizona summer without a fan is nearly impossible, so here’s our pick for the coolest one: the industrial-chic Otto (about $200). www.swizz-style.com.
Rock Star
The Veloz sink, from The Montecito Stone Collection, doesn’t need glam and glitz to make it beautiful; it is shaped from a single block of exquisite stone. The vessel is available in green onyx, white onyx, fossil marble and sandstone (pictured). Prices start at $1,195. www.terracqua.net.
