Advertising and sports industry pioneer Karl Eller falls in bicycle accident: expected to recover
(UPDATE: Karl's family and doctors are optimistic for his recovery.)
Media mogul Karl Eller of Phoenix, Arizona and La Jolla, California, is in critical condition in a California hospital. Family and friends across the country - including Chicago and New York- are awaiting news of Karl's condition. The entrepreneur fell Friday while trying to get on his bicycle and suffered several fractures and broken bones. Stevie Eller, his wife of 60 years is among those at Karl's side at the Scripps Memorial Hospital where he is in a medically induced coma.
The couple's leadership in the business and philanthropic community is significant - including the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. They are also longtime supporters of the Republican party.
Karl, who at 84 years young, has an impressive resume in the media and billboard advertising, (including founding Eller Media which he sold to Clear Channel, and the former CEO of Circle K) not to mention his involvement in the growth of Phoenix's sports scene.
On a personal note to Karl: My family and I are praying for your quick recovery and looking forward to getting back to your invincible self!
