The Hilton El Conquistador in Tucson is offering all summer guests an exciting “Edutainment” event series. The fun and educational summer getaway is perfect for creating memories with your family. The events, held every Saturday, go until September 3.
“Edutainment” features such educational activities as Native American story telling, desert discovery tours, visits from desert animals, stargazing, science experiments, and more. The goal of the event series, according to General Manager Lynn Ericksen, is fir families to reconnect and make new discoveries together.
Every Saturday, at 5 p.m., guests are invited to participate in hands-on science experiments from Mad Science that are educational and engaging. At 6 p.m., the event continues with a Native American story by Mary Redhouse, a proud member of the Navajo Nation. Redhouse, dressed in traditional Navajo dress, will play the Native American Flute and tell stories of the traditional First People legends such as Creation, The Dream Catcher, the Great Spirit in all Things, and more. The event wraps up with stargazing at 8 p.m. with Astronomer Ben, who guides guests through the summer sky using a telescope.
The experience continues on Sunday mornings with Desert Discovery Tours at 7:30 a.m. Here, guests can participate in an easy Sunday morning walk while learning the life stories of some of the plants and animals that thrive in the desert. At 9 a.m. every Sunday, the Desert Ark Van “docks” at the Hilton EL Conquistador and introduces guests to Sonoran Desert residents like barn owls, kangaroo rats, chuckwallas, and friendly snakes.
As if the family experience is not enough, the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador is also continuing its annual summer offerings like live entertainment, pool games, dive-in movies, and more. Events for parents, including cooking demonstrations, tequila tasting, Happy Hour at Epazote Kitchen & Cocktails, and more, are also featured.
