You might know Kelly Werstler from her stint on Bravo’s Top Design, or you may have even seen her collection of tomes on decorating. She is of course the genius interior designer behind Bergdorf Gooodmans eatery, BG, and the pricey gemstone-studded bauble boxes for sale in their seventh-floor home-furnishings department. Or maybe you have lounged in one of the rooms she’s designed for hotels like The Standard in Los Angeles.
On Bravo Wearstler became known for her quirky and often outrageous ensembles – topped frequently by over the top hats and extreme hair styles but prior to that the designer had turned heads for years with her impeccable ability to create unbelievable rooms. So when I found out that Wearstler was launching a fashion line I was so elated that I could barely speak…until now that is.
The line is the perfect representation of her chic and colorful aesthetic with bright pops of color and a variety of mixed prints including color blocking, stripes and luscious fabrics. The vibe is a mix of California casual with deco and art inspired details. And let’s not forget the accessories and jewelry, just as Wearstler accents her rooms with something unexpected and offbeat she accents her wardrobe with the same…
From WWD
Wearstler thought it would be a smooth transition because “so much of my influence in interior design comes from fashion and everything relating to fashion, from jewelry, which can be reminiscent of sculpture, to the colors and silhouettes that I find in clothing.” The crossover influence of interior design is definitely apparent and purposeful throughout the collection: “it feels like it could be a few rooms in a house.” The collection is exclusive to Bergdorf Goodman for fall, and will be sold in a special space designed by Wearstler herself. Sharing in Wearstler’s point of view won’t come cheap, though—price points range from $205-$1,395 for clothes; $155-$995 for jewelry; and $795-$995 for bags. (WWD)
And since the line won’t launch until August Wearstler has a highly addictive blog on her website that is worth taking a peek at. As with all Wearstler branding there are loads of images of Ms Kelly looking like an off duty Supermodel showing the carefully thought out behind the scenes tid-bits of her life. I admit it… I just want to ogle for hours. I don’t know anyone else that makes flea market shopping or picking out beets look so luxe. www.myvibemylife.com
