In just 24 hours our favorite designers, models, stylists, makeup artists (including our very own Diane Aiello!), and the such, will be working hard to present the Spring 2013 collections in New York to industry insiders and to us, the masses. There are very few things in life that are this massive, this exciting, and this fabulous, but before we get fully enthralled in what is to come for next year let’s do a little review on this season’s trends. Perhaps you’ll be wearing some of these trends to Fashion’s Night Out tomorrow, or if you’re lucky to Fashion Week!
I’m a huge fan of any bag that allows me to carry my life in it (brush, wallet, notebook, water bottle, camera, phone, tablet etc.) and even more excited if it is durable and I don’t have to worry too much about, well, destroying it.
Rebecca Minkoff, $138 at Nordstrom
Nylon totes are fall’s most functional trend. Even more, they come in an array of fabulous colors including red, blue, maroon, green, and with the names of your favorite designers Marc Jacobs, Dooney & Bourke, Red Valentino, Kate Spade and Rebecca Minkoff.
Free People, $168 at Neiman Marcus
Cardigans are never “out” of style, but this season step up your sweater game with print, cut, and color… you might even call it a statement cardigan. So skip the navy or black cardi next time and grab your flower-pattern long cardigan to add some spice to your outfit.
Stella McCartney, $2870 at Saks Fifth Avenue
Designers have fully rehabbed your grandmothers favorite brocade wallpaper and created opulent dresses, skirts, and coats ready for the most fashionable night out. No one will be able to take their eyes off you in this rich pattern.
Dolce Vita, $159 at Bloomingdales
If you’ve looked down for even a second in any place with a concentration of women then you have likely already discovered the shoe trend of the season—men’s inspired smoking shoes. Now, usually I try to avoid a trend that I see everywhere, but even I couldn’t help but pick up a pair. They are uber comfortable and come in some amazing patterns, colors, and materials.
Milly, $495 at Bloomingdales
The trend I may be most excited about this season is leather. In prior years only a few people could manage to pull off this look (think leather leggings) but this fall leather comes in many shapes, size, and forms which means we can all participate.
