Fashion Roundup: Fashion TV, V-Day Gifts, & Presidential Bangs

As I sat to consider the topics I could write about for today’s post, I realized that there are too many exciting and happy things going on in the fashion news world today that I just have to share. So here it is, this week’s roundup.

With shows like Sexy and The City, The Carrie Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210, Downton Abbey, and the such, it is no doubt that we love a show with great fashion. So, I don’t know if there can be anything more exciting than Girls creator Lena Dunham and her co-executive producer Jenni Konner working to create a new comedy series about the life of Bergdorf Goodman personal shopper Betty Halbriech!

A little abot Halbriech via Deadline.com:
At age 85, Halbreich is still running her Bergdorf-based personal shopping service, which she launched in 1976. She has been the dresser and confidante of three generations of Manhattan socialites and stars including Joan Rivers, Meryl Streep, Sarah Jessica Parker, Katie Couric and Glenn Close. Additionally, she works with top Manhattan stylists and has consulted for movies and TV shows, including helping design the signature look for HBO’s Sex And The City and capture the New York style of the early Woody Allen films.

I’m not sure that this classifies as news, but either way you need to know about it. If you think your Valentine has yet to get you the perfect gift, or worse has no clue where to start. Why not drop a not-so-subtle hint by sending him to this Refiner29.com link … It’s Reed Karkoff’s Boxer Bag in the perfect Valentine shades of pink.

I am a huge fan of the First Lady Michelle Obama’s decision to get bangs. Maybe it is because I have bangs and love them or maybe it is because Karl Lagerfeld said he doesn’t love them (hers that is). The Washingtonian is reporting that Mrs. Obama and her new do will be sprawled on the cover of Vogue soon. I for one am hoping that this rumor comes true… I actually still have the issue from when she was on the cover in March 2009.

An endearing piece of news, Victoria’s Secret VP of External communications Tammy Roberts Myers agreed to sit with a woman named Allana Maiden to discuss creating a mastectomy bra line. Maiden started an online petition with change.org asking the major lingerie store to launch such a line.

Victoria’s Secret has responded positively to both Maiden and the idea:
We celebrate those who champion the fight against breast cancer. Victoria’s Secret and our parent company, Limited Brands, have been dedicated to helping eradicate this disease and have committed $10s of millions to cancer research. Ultimately, we are working towards celebrating the day when breast cancer is a thing of the past. In the meantime, we are listening and learning to understand if there are additional ways for our company to continue to extend its support. Via fashionista.com
