In late July the city of Chicago was infiltrated with festival fever as the 25th annual Lollapalooza rocked Grant Park. Even though the music naturally took center stage of the four-day extravaganza the fest was nothing short of a fashion showcase.
While festival goers street style was definitely impressive we drew the most inspiration from the artists themselves. After all, isn’t that who fans are trying to emulate anyway? From chic to somewhat scary here’s our list of the top ten most memorable artist looks from Lollapalooza 2016.
Perry Ferrell – Jane’s Addiction
Perry was hands down our fashion favorite. The festival founder paraded onstage in a pastel pink three-piece suit, neck scarf, argyle socks, and a straw boat hat. If that’s not the definition of rock n’ roll attitude we don’t know what is.
Sarah Barthel – Big Grams
Talk about major babe alert. Not only did Barthel crush it onstage she did it in a black leotard that could have easily resulted in a Janet Jackson Superbowl Halftime moment. The platinum blonde vixen definitely brought platinum record level style.
Lindsey Stirling
Did Harley Quinn just trade in her baseball bat for a violin? The multi-talented YouTube sensation crushed her performance in a pleather checkerboard one-piece. Lindsey also gets a special shout out for being an Arizona native.
Ellie Goulding
Ellie never disappoints in the style department and Lolla was no exception. Leather laces, bandage, and combat boots made us feel like ‘anything could happen’.
Halsey
While no longer a broke, couch surfing delinquent Halsey never strays too far from her “I don’t give a F” persona. The Badlands badass crooned away in neon crushed velvet hot pants and expertly knotted vintage tee.
Samantha Gongol – Marian Hill
Do blondes really have more fun because lead-singer Gongol was slaying in fresh brunette locks. We’re a big fan of the darker do and even bigger fan of her fitted leather pants.
Olly Alexander – Years & Years
We’ve never seen someone twirl around onstage quite like Olly and we think it had to do with his athleisure inspired ensemble. Mesh tops and basketball shorts were just made for movement.
Flea – Red Hot Chili Peppers
Fashion may not be the first word that comes to mind when one thinks of Flea but the RHCP bassist knows how to make a statement. We’re actually not quite sure what he was wearing but the same can be said at virtually any fashion week. #hautecouture
DJ Marshmello
The only way to remain a mysterious EDM musician is obviously with a cartoonish full-face mask (i.e. Deadmau5, Daft Punk, etc). Marshmello is a lesson in achieving signature style with his trademark all white attire. Although we’re not quite sure what he’s going to do after Labor Day…
G-Eazy
If James Dean and Eminem had a love child it’d be G-Eazy. The Oakland rappers 1950’s bad boy movie star style makes us swoon. Slicked hair, button ups, and a denim (albeit more often leather) jacket scream serious style points.
Least Memorable – Lana Del Rey
We get it Lana, you wish you were Priscilla Presley circa 1967. Your shtick is tired and we wish you’d ditch the bouffant.
