This season has definitely been the season of the Statement Shoe. They were seen all over the spring runways and again for this coming fall too. Though I usually don’t advocate making a big monetary investment in shoes that aren’t classic, some shoes are just so different in special it’d be silly not to.
One particular designer I have my eye on is Nicholas Kirkwood. They are only available in 12 stores in the U.S., including three different Nordstrom locations and at the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas. The good news, you’re not likely to run into another woman wearing the same shoes!
Here’s a pick of a few of my favorite picks from Nicholas Kirkwood’s spring/summer 2009 collection.
Statement shoes are often casual, but this pair of Nicholas Kirkwood shoes can definitely be worn after dark. They are definitely unique and would look phenomenal with the right cocktail dress.
I love the funky platform on this Nicholas Kirkwood shoe. The beige color is a nice shade for spring/summer but they are also available in a bright blue color too.
Although definitely on the funky side, this Nicholas Kirkwood pump I find approachable. With a cute khaki pencil or floral-print dress it’s a shoe I’d even wear to work.
Though not exactly my style, this Nicholas Kirkwood shoe definitely makes a statement.
I’m totally into the shoe. The reptile skin gives it just that bit of edge and the plum shade would make this shoe easily transition into your fall wardrobe too.
Pearls are classic. Black pumps are classic. Put together you have quite the interesting shoe. It’s definitely a show-stopper but still looks classy.
Here’s another pair I’d wear to a cocktail party. I really like the nude satin sheen paired with that bit of metallic. This shade of nude is dark enough that it could also transition into fall wear pretty well.
Same style as above but I love how it looks even edgier with the metallic sheen.
Again, not sure I’d sport these myself, but these are just cool to look at.

I am not a fan of his platform design, but I will say I do dig that plum reptile skin shoe.
DEFINITELY statement shoes….
I love all the unique platforms on these shoes.
It’s nice to see some new ideas! I like almost all of them but the one with the pearls looks like an art project.
I am a self confessed shoe maniac! i have over 400 pairs, although i have worn less than half of them, i still continue on my crusade to find that perfect pair, problem is, i almost always think it’s the perfect shoes at the time of purchase, but the high quickly fades once i get my credit card bill! i thank you for your “Nicholas Kirkwood Shoes | Style Files” info. It gave a true fashion lover the perfect fix!
