Can I just confess that I have been trying since early September to wear my over the knee boots? I am so delighted that we have finally reached a place with our thermometer that allows us to wear our fall frocks everyday…. Of course with all the new hoopla at the mall I want to rush over and deplete the racks like a shopaholic in need of intervention, but as noted previously I don’t shop with what I don’t have. So if the cash is running dry, then the shopping is put on hold. This crazy little standard I have set for myself leaves me with only a few options, A) sale rack B) vintage c) closet creativity. I love all equally, and am always up for a fashion challenge. For today, I have decided that the free and creative route will be my ticket. I will plunge into the slim pickings I call a closet and go where inspiration leads. So if you dear reader are in the same boat, here are a few ideas to spark your inner fashion artist.
Leighton’s adorable outfit recently inspired me when she attended the Louis Vuitton Spring /Summer show in Paris. Of course LM was wearing a new piece from the resort collection not an old closet throwback… but non- the- less she (or her stylist) paired it with a little black vest and booties similar to the looks that LV showed in their campaign… so it may not be absolutely original of her but, the look was still darling and highly coveted in my book!
You don’t have to run out and buy a bunch of little mini’s to go with your OTK boots, take a cue from my fashion idol Carine Roitfeld Editor in Chief of French Vogue, pair them with one of your current LBD’s that just skims the knee…only a bit of skin is necessary to make this look work.
Then layer a few gold necklaces and you have a new look. Why just yesterday one of my Glam Lounge clients popped in wearing the sexiest stretch boots with a little knit tunic dress and she looked like a million bucks!
Another look that I can’t get enough of is adding a little folded cuff to those overly long skinny pants. We have to give credit to Katie Holmes aks Mrs Cruise for bringing back the cuff last year with her boyfriend jeans. But for fall a two-three inch cuff on the end of those pants or jeans that drag the floor is a fresh way to update. This look works best with a heel or a slim flat… but beware -nothing chunky or clunky on the feet especially before Halloween unless you want people to mistake you for Herman Munster.
Love that J.Crew outfit. Actually seems like something that I would/could wear.
Ooo I really love Leighton Meester’s outfit! Perfect for AZ in the fall or winter.
