NYFW – 3.1 Phillip Lim, Halston, L.A.M.B

Even though fashion week has wound down to an end, this little blogger can’t seem to type fast enough to keep up with all of the amazing shows. So if you will, please indulge me in just a few more reviews of some of the best and the brightest shows of the entire week and then it’s on to other bits of fashion and beauty in just mere days.

The lovely and delightful 3.1 Phillip Lim show was all about youthful elegance. He paired simple pullovers over halters and paired them with the prettiest apron-paneled skirts. The geometric shapes were repeated throughout in chic well fitting layers. There were bits of jackets with sheer sleeves and minimal embellishments to create a paired down mood. The palette was subdued in shades of camels, blushes and taupes with pops of baby blue. These are the things that one wants in their closet when they need to be a grown up, but not too much so.

Of course one of my all-time favorite’s Halston has been back in a big way since last year and thanks to the efforts of Chief Creative Officer Sarah Jessica Parker, the referencing of old is in full swing but done in a modern and wearable way. This season the focus was on signature jersey dresses often cinched, draped and folded into sensual shapes whether asymmetric, cutout or with split sleeves. The orchid inspired palette was a combination of black, white and camel, light blush and coral that instantly felt fresh like the spring air.. Of course there were some high neck tunics and caftans as well. All of which were as eye catching as the original Halton of the 70’s.

And what can I say about L.A.M.B by Gwen Stefani, well let’s see, I adore this collection, but am often heartbroken each season when my size six booty is just too big to fit into any of these pieces! I mean the fabulous Stefani will always have my undying credit for being one of the few if not only celebs to actually design her line from start to finish instead of just getting paid a pretty penny to put her name on a brand but let’s face it she herself admits that she starves from time to time. As always there is the expected play on prints from tribal to funky post- punk plaids with cuts that range from dropped crotches to cropped jackets and a juxtaposition of female and male elements…..and lets not forget to mention the bloomer like shorts…seriously you need to look like a lithe as Stefani to pull these off…. Okay, living vicariously!
