3 Reviews from London Fashion Week

Now I know that I said I would only be chatting about NY fashion week briefly this week, but now you see my dear fashion friends something else has come up, London Fashion Week to be exact, and while we are on a roll how can I curtail it? Okay, okay I know there are more important things to write about like the often requested hair tutorial on how to get that tumbling mass of Gucci locks that appear in their current Mert & Marcus photographed campaign. Don’t worry my little fashion sugar pies I will be getting to that later this week. For now, I have to touch on just a couple of my already favorite shows of London’s Fashion Week. Though the festivities have just began there are a few emerging talents along with some old favorites that bear mentioning.

Let’s talk Sass & Bide, this season Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke turned their usual punkish designs into a wash of muted fabrics and colors. The peach and pink palette consisted of mohair sweaters and raffia trimmed touches that were a definite diversion from the usual. There were also painterly printed pieces and a flurry of rainy neutrals like grays and creams, plus minty pastels. I never tire of the sleek sexy cuts and shapes that these two darling of the fashion scene are famous for.

Then there’s the Miller sisters, Sienna and Savannah to be exact, (and yes we are talking about the actress and gal of Jude Law) these two lovely Brits put out a collection inspired by Mexico in the fifties, photographs of the Midwest in the sixties and the little know indie film Paris, Texas. All of these references translated into a fun and bohemian collection of petticoats, flouncy skirts and shorts with loads of personality. These are definitely clothes for a confident fashion risk taker! Pops of yellow, blues and little bits of chambray with crisp whites and flashes of peach in the petticoats made for a very Springy feel.

Maria Grachvogel though not exactly a household name, keeps churning out such beautiful and figure flattering garments that her name is worth remembering. This season’s palette was as minimal as they come in pale gray, pops of yellow, blue and copper. Her jumpsuits, caftan dresses, leg slimming trousers and magic blouses that can be worn six different ways are the perfect enhancements for any wardrobe. Not to mention that her silhouettes lend an effortless chic for any occasion.
