Can you feel the buzz in the air? It’s almost palpable… Barneys is just a mere week away along with Michael Stars, Christian Audigier, Banana Republic, Stash, Love Culture plus tasty new eateries from Fox Concepts own master of taste, Sam Fox and plenty more. Really darling just how much shopping can one girl take? Only my bank account knows for sure. We will be covering the latest and greatest happenings at SFS next week so don’t miss out on the scoop!
This week we had a close call with a masked bandit in the neighborhood… yes my darling husband foiled a crime spree in the making… and coincidentally I had just read an article in the New York Times about ANXIETY! Never in all of my days had I had a cartoon that looked devilishly like myself staring back at me… furrowed brow, crinkled nose and tensed lip… well if that isn’t enough to snap one back to reality. Apparently we have become a culture vastly beyond the title of “worry wart”. The question raised is it the economy and terrorism that are making us nervous or are we wired that way? Simultaneously I am reading “My Stroke of Insight” by Jill Bolte Taylor A brain scientist personal journey through a massive stroke…. I can’t seem to decide if it’s wise to read both or if it just makes me more insane…hmmm in the words of Leslie Glass from the 80’s Madonna flick Desperately Seeking Susan – “Take a Valium like a normal person” Well, since I have never been one to pop anything let alone emotionally altering substances, I must find my escape in something that lasts at least a season… off the shoulder dress, metallic clutch perhaps?
So for you ladies that sent me an email the other day asking what shoes go with what this season? This blogs for you…enjoy!
For those off the shoulder delights like that delicious cream colored number by Tory Burch or that little Lanvin frock I spotted online, skip the over the knee boots and big chunky heels in favor of something a bit more demure- a pointy or open toed pump like the classic Jimmy Choo’s work beautifully even a platform Louboutin would look smashing, add to the combo a sexy pair of gloves for a film noir touch and some gemstone earrings.
For those long sleeve florals and wrap dresses like BCBG’s tribal prints or the 3.1 Phillip Lim ruched boho dress, this is where the over the knee makes the perfect match, the combination of textures lends a sophisticated yet devil may care feeling head to toe.
If you’re going for the ladylike 40’s look shown at Jason Wu’s fall shows, add a strappy ankle shoe by Elizabeth and James and a metallic bag like the much desired J Crew clutch (it’s a steal at $69.50) add a thick baubble of a necklace like the latest twisted pearls or faceted collar from Banana Republic.
Sooo love those Elizabeth & James Caged pumps.
Love the dresses but what I need is SHOES…particularly the basic black patent Louboutins and the Stella boots.
The Stella boots are great, I can’t afford them but whatever.
so hot! all of it!! love love love fall clothes!
love the loubs – they go with everything of course
Just got a few ideas for Vegas! That one shoulder dress IS flattering…sometimes I can’t stand them.
