If you’re still searching for a last-minute gift for the car enthusiast on your list, tickets to The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction will surely be a hit. As always, the Barrett-Jackson auction will be a world-class, star-studded affair, replete with history, celebrity, charity and spectacle, in equal parts.
As Barrett-Jackson president Steve Davis explains, “From the excitement of seeing first-time buyers bid on a vehicle, to the thunderous applause that comes from a million-dollar bid for charity, Scottsdale is the premier auction where you can truly indulge in the automotive lifestyle.”
And, as is the custom, there will be plenty to indulge in, whatever your automotive tastes and preferences. Included in the Charlie Thomas Collection alone are 140 vehicles that run the gamut from prewar classics to American muscle, to European models and high-performance beasts.
Also up for bid will be the historic CERV 1 belonging to Zora Arkus-Duntov, “Father of the Corvette”. This vehicle was a prototype of sorts for what became the Chevrolet Corvette in the 1960s, and is a true piece of automotive history.
Early highlights also include the announcement that rocker Steven Tyler will drive his personal 2012 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder across the auction block to raise money for Janie’s Fund, a foundation that provides resources for abused girls. The supercar is the fifth of 12 Hennessey Venom GTs ever built, and the world’s fastest convertible, recording a top speed of 265.5 mph in March 2016.
Aside from the fantastic and heart-pounding excitement of the auction block, Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale will feature Ride and Drives from Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge, a massive vendor area, automobilia auctions, collector car symposiums and even some arena polo matches. Barrett-Jackson has been a Best of Our Valley winner multiple times, earning the distinction with its high profile, high energy, star power, and charitable endeavors. 2017 will not disappoint.
