I had the chance to test drive the 2025 Ford Explorer ST RWD for a week, and it certainly left a strong impression. As someone who often finds myself carting around teenagers and their friends, the Explorer ST really stood out for its combination of space, performance, and tech features.
The performance is definitely a highlight. With the 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine cranking out 400 horsepower, the Explorer ST delivers more than enough power for everything from quick getaways to long family road trips. The rear-wheel-drive setup adds to the driving experience, providing smooth handling and a feeling of stability, whether on highways or city streets.
One of my favorite aspects was the third-row seat. Having teenagers and their friends constantly needing space, I was thrilled to find the third row roomy enough for adult passengers. It’s easy to get to, and even on longer drives, no one felt cramped in the back. It’s the perfect solution when you need extra seating without sacrificing comfort.
The tech is another area where Ford shines. The SYNC 4 system with its 12.3-inch touchscreen is user-friendly and responsive, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto worked seamlessly with my phone. Plus, the safety features—like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and the 360-degree camera system—made me feel secure and confident behind the wheel.
As for the exterior, the white color was a bit on the basic side for my taste. But Ford offers plenty of other color options, so it’s easy to choose something that feels more unique. All in all, the 2025 Explorer ST RWD is a fantastic blend of performance, space, and modern technology, making it a great option for families looking for versatility and fun.
