Stick Shift: 2019 Lexus GS 350 F Sport

The GS 350 returns with plenty of comfort and space on the inside, and aggressive F Sport styling on the outside. New for 2019 is smartphone integration through the Lexus Enform Connect app. The F Sport package delivers big with sportier brakes, suspension and enhanced cosmetic goodies.

The 350’s V6 isn’t breaking any quarter-mile records, but is responsive, and delivers smooth acceleration. An all-wheel-drive option is available on the 350 model if you need extra traction in wet or icy weather conditions.

Though the F Sport version is leading us in the sport sedan direction, Lexus hasn’t abandoned its lineage of luxury. Performance is nimble, with precise handling and responsive steering that helps the GS 350 feel smaller than it is. Ride quality isn’t compromised though, and the overall driving experience is poised and smooth as ever.

Seats are wide and comfortable, the cabin is well lite, quite and full of high-grade materials. There’s shoulder room aplenty up front and leg room to spare in the back. In true Lexus fashion, the interior build quality feels intentional, purposeful and with attention to quality and detail above all else. Extra padding for the high-touch areas can be found on the steering wheel, center console and shifter. Unfortunately, the trunk space can’t be increased due to rear seats that don’t fold down.

The most noticeable place where the interior still falls short is in the technology department. Where an awkward to navigate control interface continues to be frustrating to use. Also, the absence of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto feels like a big miss in 2019 at this price point.

The 2019 Lexus GS 350 F Sport delivers big in the looks department. The F Sport trim adds all the right amounts of flare to an already handsome base. Orange brake calipers are tucked behind big, beautiful 19” alloy wheels with a dark graphite finish. A striking front fascia and grille, unique to the F Sport model, make a big impact. As does the rear valence and lip spoiler. Premium triple beam LED headlamps look and perform wonderfully as well.

On the whole, the newest GS 350 from Lexus delivers balanced performance, good looks and an interior renowned for its tight assembly and top-tier quality. While not perfect, it will satisfy the needs of most with style and grace to spare.
