Spring is here and updating your closet for spring's newest trends is a must. Here is a list of the top style trends for spring 2011.

Long Dresses

Long dresses make you look taller, which to some women can be all the difference. They also look sleek and stylish on any body type, not to mention elongating our figures. For a bolder look, grab an allover print. College Fashionista intern Jacqueline Gutierrez has already got a jump start into this spring's trends. "I recently purchased a half-shoulder maxi dress that's a light maroon with black tribal designs, and I received a lot of compliments on it at South By South West (SXSW).”
Florals

Asian-inspired florals are in right now. Try pairing a loose floral shirt with slim white pants, perfect for any outing. Stick with a satin floral print dress or a halter top with small floral designs. The Vera Wang Mixed Floral Dress makes for an ideal spring outfit.
Mixing prints

Popular on the spring runways is mixed prints. Kinda crazy, kinda cool, but popular nonetheless. Floral patterns and dots are some of the most popular, but stick to the same color theme to keep from looking like a crazy bag lady. Designers say sticking to one or two colors will simplify and complete your mix-and-match look.
Bright colors

Colors ranging from in-your-face neon to 70's disco are all the rage this season. Channel your inner Christian Dior and wear those daring colors, sure to make your inner diva proud. Try layering corals, turquoise, yellow and magenta with neutrals and blacks, completing and anchoring your look. The brighter and louder your outfit screams, the better.
Metallic

Look great in your evening dress with hues of gold and silver. This year, shines of platinum, silver, and gold are a rising trend for spring. Re-think your go-to little black dress and opt for more shine. You can also strive for a silver handbag and pair it with a neutral top and denim jeans, also must-haves for spring.
Neutrals

Whites, creams, and khaki's aren't just for GAP commercials anymore. This spring, embrace the natural and neutral tones, complementing even the palest of skin. Fashion-forward Whitney Kobey has always had an eye on the newest trends. She says the biggest thing she has seen is mixing neutrals and tones together. “Mixing bright whites with a cream, or doing a khaki, cream, and bright whites all together is the trend. Before, cream and white was kind of a taboo in the fashion world, but now we're seeing it as classic and chic.”
Denim

This isn't the time when denim ruled the acid-washed 80's world. This spring denim is back with a more sophisticated, grown-up look. Wearing clean, elegant and shine denim is key. Opt for an indigo denim dress and pair it with a solid black belt.
Flowy Shirts

Looks like the comfy boyfriend look is back this spring. Instead of grabbing your too-tight slim jeans with an even tighter T-shirt, reach for a looser shirt; the trend is comfortable, eye-pleasing, and will look great on any body type. Try a neutral, loose cami top with a white shirt underneath and pair it with a pair of nice denim shorts or white jeans.
Lace

Lace isn't just for the bedroom anymore. Lace camisoles, skirts, bras and leggings are all the rave this season. Just remember, the more intricate the lace is, the simpler your clothes need to be. Whether you're channeling Ke$ha's laced and ripped legging style or a fashion model's laced dress on the runways, there's one thing that's certain: lace is here to stay.
Stripes

Don't worry, wearing a stripped dress or shirt won't make others want to shout “Where's Waldo?” This spring, stripes are in. Orange stripes, blue stripes, black stripes, colored stripes, any kind of stripes are a fun and flirty style you can wear anywhere.
