Though it may not feel like it just yet, colder weather is coming our way and new fall trends are showing up everywhere. Fashion shows throughout the year have highlighted what will be popular, what staples are important, and what eye-catching pieces you should be sure to treat yourself with. According to Harper’s Bazaar and New York Fashion Week, it’s time to shed off the sunny sandals and bright gem tones for the year and focus on an autumn wardrobe of deeper, richer collections.

Angela Johnson, a clothing designer and board member of Scottsdale Fashion Week, predicts that the bohemian and mod trend will be two of the most popular for the fall and winter. Bohemian is versatile with both accessories and clothing while mod invigorates

“The spirit is whimsical and is felt through billowing shapes... [and] rich prints and patterns,” she said of the boho look, while the mod trend explores a “new and modern interpretation” of the classics.

Bold pieces are basic staples for any wardrobe this fall. Rich pigments and deep shades are perfect for clothes, hats, oversize bags and clutches, too. Muted colors like navy, brown, grey and black complement pops of luxurious reds and purples. These colors can be mixed and matched and incorporated with any other of the hot trends to create a unique and timely look.

Statement jewelry and chunky hardware are no exceptions to the rule of being bold this season. Buckles, chains, and shine give feminine accessories more drama and edge than an average piece. Thick rings, metallic mangled bangles, ornate necklaces.

“The neck is just calling out to be covered and hugged with anything textured to frame the face,” said Johnson.

Johnson expects “the patchwork effect” on accessories to be equally popular, along with high-heeled loafers and the portfolio bag.

Utilize elegant colors and metallics with the use of patterns, textures, and shapes. The combination of girly glamour and fierce detail affirms your status as a true fall fashionista.
