A Fitness Revolution Has ‘HIIT’ Arcadia

The Underground Phoenix, a brand-new workout studio, blends high-intensity training with street-art aesthetics, immersive soundscapes, and 90s nostalgia, creating a space that feels more like an underground art gallery than the typical gym. The brainchild of veteran fitness instructor Stephanie Schwartz, The Underground is built on the idea that fitness should be as fun, creative, and motivating as it is effective.

“The Underground isn’t just a place to sweat. It’s a full-sensory experience,” Schwartz said. “From the second you step inside, you’re hit with a current of raw, contagious energy that fuels movement and motivation.”

Neon lights pulse over vibrant, graffiti-style murals of 90s legends Madonna, Biggie, and Michael Jackson, all commissioned from acclaimed artist Uvonte Reed (@uvontereed). A feature wall stacked with over a thousand vintage CD cases, all donated by members, pays tribute to the soundtrack of a generation and adds another layer of soul to the space. It’s nostalgic, edgy, and unique.

Schwartz brings more than 17 years of experience, and her reputation precedes her. Known for her dynamic presence and top-tier programming, Schwartz has created a roster of high-energy, music-fueled, effective and fun classes. The schedule includes everything from cycling and Mat Pilates to yoga, HIIT, and the signature FLEX class, a full-body conditioning workout designed to challenge, strengthen, and inspire.

To mark its grand opening, The Underground Phoenix offers several introductory specials. New clients can get two weeks of unlimited classes for just $29. Those ready to dive into a full membership can take advantage of a special offer: their first month of unlimited classes for $99 (with a three-month commitment), plus a custom-curated swag bag filled with exclusive studio merchandise.

Class packs are also available for those who want more flexibility. A 10-class package costs $129, and a 25-class package costs $299. Both options have a 12-month expiration, giving clients plenty of time to use them as they ease into the studio’s rhythm.

The studio plans to host seasonal outdoor workouts and events across the Valley, turning fitness into a lifestyle and building a community that thrives on connection, creativity, and good vibes. Stay up to date on upcoming events, classes, and more by visiting theundergroundphx.com.
