The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation has started a new hiking group that will educate people on safe hiking practices and create a positive community for hikers who enjoy the outdoor landscapes of Phoenix.
The hiking group, Hike Right PHX, will be held monthly and led by Phoenix Park Rangers with the intention of promoting safe hiking for people of all experience levels.
“We are thrilled to launch Hike Right PHX as a way to promote safe hiking practices to both new and regular hikers in our community,” says Parks and Recreation Director Cynthia Aguilar. “Our Park Rangers are experts in trail safety and provide a community atmosphere for hikers of all abilities.”
The new hiking group will host its first hike on Saturday, March 9 at North Mountain Visitor Center, which will take hikers through the beautiful Trail 44/Tower Road.
Hiking is one of the most popular recreational activities in Phoenix due to the numerous mountains and scenic desert landscapes that make up the city. Multiple parks and trails in Phoenix make exploring its beautiful outdoors easy and enjoyable for locals and visitors.
As more and more people take advantage of the city’s many hiking trails and natural beauty, there comes a need for education on how to enjoy Phoenix’s great outdoors safely. Through Hike Right PHX, hikers of all backgrounds and experiences will learn the right way to enjoy the city’s trails, as well as gain a positive community of local hikers.
Hike Right PHX will offer monthly hikes on the second Saturday of each month, beginning Saturday, March 9. Registration is recommended for Hike Right PHX’s monthly hikes and can be completed online through the City of Parks and Recreation.
