GM Hunt Builders’ focus on quality and integrity has helped this family-owned business become the Valley’s premier luxury home building and remodeling company.
Greg Hunt, founder of GM Hunt Builders, set the foundation for his career at an early age. While growing up on a small farm, he helped his father build numerous things and saw his mother’s deep appreciation for home design. After moving to Arizona in the 1970s, Hunt and his wife, Kathy, founded GM Hunt Builders in 1981.
The company specializes in building and remodeling luxury homes in various styles, taking care never to build the same house twice.
“We do absolutely every single style that’s out there: ultra-modern, historic, old world, transitional, and beyond,” President Max Hunt, Greg’s son, said. “We don’t get boxed in, which has been fun.”
The company hasn’t been constrained to building types either. Hunt notes that while many construction companies will build only new homes, GM Hunt Builders currently works on an equal amount of new builds and remodels.
“A new build can be a little more straightforward, but with remodels, you get to solve more creative challenges,” says Hunt.
Now in its 43rd year of business, the company has earned a sterling reputation around the Valley as a premier luxury home builder, working solely on referral business. Hunt attributes this to GM Hunt Builders’ commitment to honesty, integrity, and organization, especially time management.
“When we sit down and tell someone when we’re going to start and finish, we hit those deadlines,” says Hunt. “We’re almost obsessive about making sure that our dates are met within the time frame that we set.”
Beyond their dedication to providing excellent customer service, GM Hunt Builders has a strong philosophy when it comes to design and execution. The team takes pride in working closely with select partners to provide clients with a well-rounded concierge experience during their home build or remodel.
“We stick to what we know, which is construction, so we make sure to work with the best architects, designers and engineers in town,” says Hunt. “We’re so thankful for all the great talent we get to collaborate with.”
Trend Forecast
With hundreds of home builds and remodels under its belt, GM Hunt Builders has seen design trends evolve in real-time. Here are three things Max Hunt says his company’s clients are currently adding to their homes.
Home offices: It’s no surprise that Hunt noticed home office additions increased in 2020 when businesses adapted to hybrid and remote work. But in a post-COVID world, he thinks home offices are here to stay. “They’re pretty much a staple now.”
Wellness rooms: Hunt has observed more requests for wellness features, such as steam baths, cold plunges and saunas. “There’s a focus on home wellness centers meant for daily use.”
Pickleball courts: Pickleball’s popularity has skyrocketed over the past few years and shows no sign of slowing down. “If our client has a tennis court, we’re converting it into a pickleball court.”
