If you have someone on your holiday shopping list who loves home decor and all things local, the new Phoenix Flea retail location at DeSoto Central Market is your one-stop-shop.
Originally, Phoenix Flea started as a semi-annual modern market for vintage goods, fine art and crafts, fashion, artisan food and more at downtown Phoenix’s Heritage Square. The founder, Ashlee Molina, drew inspiration for Phoenix Flea from similar concepts she saw in other cities and countries throughout her travels around the world. She wanted to find a way to highlight and support all the extremely talented artisans and small business owners that are in Phoenix, while also turning it into a fun community-driven experience. Now the market is taking on a new frontier, a storefront.
As MoonAge did a few months ago, Molina is opening a 350-square-foot retail shop inside DeSoto Central Market called Shop Phoenix Flea. They will be selling soaps, bath items, fine art and prints, candles, plants, ceramics, leather goods and more. A variety of the products will come from local vendors, like Butte Creations, Lola + Pine Handcrafted Goods and Paige Poppe.
“The support [in Phoenix] has been tremendous—especially being established in a venue where other local businesses are all working cohesively to help each other be successful,” says Molina. “At DeSoto, we are all small and passionate about what we do and we have turned the marketplace into a one-stop shop for food, drinks, shopping and more.”
For Molina, DeSoto Central Market was the ideal venue for the opening of the brick-and-mortar Shop Phoenix Flea because of the amazing community within that aims to support local artisans and entrepreneurs.
With all the specialty items available at the retail location, Shop Phoenix Flea is the perfect place to find a local artisan treasure that will make the perfect holiday gift. Customers will even be able to sip on handcrafted beverages and pick up a bite to eat from DeSoto while they shop.
“[DeSoto is] a high-energy collaborative space right in the heart of downtown Phoenix where growth and progression is happening,” says Molina. “My goal is that Shop Phoenix Flea will serve as a convenient easy location for people to pick up special gifts and essential home items for themselves and others.”
Shop Phoenix Flea and MoonAge will also be teaming up on December 7 and hosting a Holiday Pop-Up Market at DeSoto Central Market from 6 to 10 p.m. There will be refreshments from Teaspressa and Ruze Cake as well as some other local shops selling artisan wares like T. Madison Shop, GrowOp, Phoenix General, Overthrow and Wild Leigh Vintage.
Shop Phoenix Flea is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. inside DeSoto Central Market, which is located at 915 N Central Ave Phoenix, AZ 85004.
