I recently embraced cycling and, most mornings you’ll find me on the road getting in an early morning workout. I like to meet my cycling group at the bottom of 32nd Street and the Dreamy Draw Trail entrance for a 58-mile bike ride. There are so many trails I enjoy around the Valley, but this is one of my favorites for the challenge it brings. 7 A.M. Caffeine is a necessity. I like to stop at The Roastery on 32nd Street for freshly roasted coffee. Best way to start the day. 8 A.M. Brunch at the legendary Richardson’s on 16th Street. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but after a big ride, my go-to order is the Midwestern. My dog Nala gets the leftovers. Sausage, bacon, ham, eggs, potatoes and toast— she loves me a lot. 9 A.M. It may be called work, but it truly feeds my soul. As the head of sales and marketing for Shea Homes, I’m involved in all aspects of the development of our new home communities around the Valley. An ideal day would include a few site visits, meetings with the land development and architectural teams, leading a sales meeting and shooting a video at our new Shea Signature luxury community, Azure Paradise Valley (see sidebar). 5 P.M. An early movie at Harkins Camelview Fashion Square is a great way to kick off the evening. Action/adventure preferably. 8 P.M. The perfect day would end with a spot at the bar at Steak 44 for drinks and dinner with friends. 10 P.M. I’d wrap up the night with a cigar and a glass of scotch at Torch Cigar Bar on High Street at Desert Ridge. I’m a bit of a regular. Guest Publisher Letter Ken Peterson VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES AND MARKETING FOR SHEA HOMES ARIZONA Azure is part of a 123-acre master-plan community designed for both residents and visitors alike.
