I was born…
and raised in a very small, fresh mountain air town in Western Wyoming. I grew up snowboarding with my little sister, hunting with my dad, fishing with my brother, boating, snowmobiling, playing multiple sports, and traveling. My first job was picking worms and fixing tractors with my Dad. He’s the smartest and most generous man I know. I loved watching my mom cook for our family. She is the greatest chef I know and inspired me to love being in the kitchen nourishing my family.
My favorite thing about Arizona…
I came to Arizona to play volleyball in college. I always thought I would move back home to Wyoming, but the year-round sunshine has kept me here for 23 years and counting. Our family is outside every chance we get and it never gets old.
I’m listening to…
Midland, Brooks & Dunn, Hall & Oats, and Whitney Houston. I am also listening to multiple functional medicine and nutrigenomics podcasts and Jennie Allen’s new 1ist Corin.
My family…
is BUSY. My husband coaches our son’s club baseball team(s), our oldest daughter is a competitive gymnast, and I coach our youngest daughter’s volleyball team with my sister. We love big breakfasts, our local coffee shop in South Tempe, Friday movie nights at home, and having our friends over for nights filled with made-up sports and games. My husband Josh and I also love our early morning workouts and homemade mojitos by the pool.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…
anybody. I love eating! However, it would be pretty cool to share a meal with Coach K from Duke. I love everything about the way he coaches his athletes. I cannot believe I have to endure March without the NCAA basketball tournament.
One thing I cannot live without…
my Bible. Spirituality and religion is so personal… just like our food preferences and choices. Nourishing the soul is essential and a primary food group that drives how we treat other people, our own body and the energy it produces.
When I was younger, I wanted to be…
a Solid Gold Dancer. I loved their energy and their outfits were amazing, LOL.
I’m inspired by…
my parents. Their dedication to their marriage and the generosity towards our family and their community is deep. I love them so much. Also, my husband. He was a redshirt athlete for the Scottsdale Community College baseball program and never gave up when a lot of odds were stacked against him. In 2001, he signed with the Oakland Athletics and played professionally for 5 years. He pours that same endurance into our marriage and family. I love him.
The one person who motivates me is…
my sister Robyn. She changed careers 8 years into her first career out of college. Not for lack of success, but rather chasing her dream of owning her own high-end adventure travel company. Through all the ups and downs of starting completely over, she has now traveled to places on this earth that most of us will only see in National Geographic. She is the hardest working, most honest, and patient woman I know. I am so glad she is my sister and Aunt to my babies.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be…
The amount of hate and racism that exists in our world today is staggering and beyond wrong. I would change that immediately. It’s amazing what happens when we treat people with love regardless of who and what they are.
The perfect day would be…
one filled with family and friends just swimming and BBQing in our back yard. Thankfully, we get many of these perfect days. We are blessed with a family who likes being around each other and a deep group of loyal and amazing friends.
My first job was…
picking worms (night crawlers) for the tourists who traveled into our town to fish in our beautiful, cold water lakes in Wyoming. We sold them for $3 per pound and we made great money!
My favorite escape…
every summer my family and I go back home to Wyoming for a few weeks. We stay with my parents in the house I grew up in. Nothing is better than watching my kids play in the same fresh air, green fields, deep mountains, and clear lakes that I did. Time seems to move slower there. I love it.
My life…
is spontaneous. I am a 7 wing 8 if you know anything about the Enneagram. I love to say yes to everything… with some healthy boundaries to that. There is typically not enough hours in the day for me.
I’m currently working on…
finding more QT with my husband Josh. We have been together for almost 23 years (18 of them married). Our oldest daughter just got her babysitting certification so this should be something we can accomplish. I am always working on and keeping up with the latest science that follows nutrition and health. Nutrigenomics is HUGE right now. Personalized nutrition is very real and in demand. That’s exactly what I do. I am grateful to have followed my dreams of helping people feel good and have the ENERGY to live the life they want – no matter what age and stage they are in.
Always…
think of others first.
Never…
forget about taking care of yourself.
Favorite Quote…
“What you know always trumps what you feel.” – Tom Shrader
Biggest Dream…
to teach my family and friends how to nourish their bodies and have youthful energy all the days of their lives. Also, to win the lottery.
My Pet Peeve(s)…
I really dislike the word “kiddo”, stuffy noses, stiff pencil erasers, and complainers.
