Age: 46, and I’m actually really excited about recently turning 46 because I feel like every decade of my life gets a little bit better than the last one because I settle more into who I am. While the number might be aging, what I love most about being a trendsetter in the med spa industry is that I get to be a billboard for what’s possible for women to truly pause the aging process and I don’t feel or look my age.

Title: Registered Nurse, CEO and Founder of Esthetic Solutions

Married/Single: I am actually in a committed relationship with someone who is younger than me which makes it even more important that I look and feel younger than I am because I want to feel and look sexy and young to my partner.

Kids: I have the four-legged kind! I’m also known as the crazy cat lady; I think every cat in the world has a home in my heart but in my actual home, I only have two.

City you live in: Scottsdale

A typical day in my life includes… a very diverse list- from operating as a registered nurse and sometimes starting the occasional IV in my clinic to training my medical staff at the Esthetic Solutions location in Scottsdale, and even consulting nationwide for other med spas and med spa owners who want business development and business consulting, including medical practitioners nationwide learning anything from the basics of how to mix a vile of Botox all the way up to an advanced injection technique that I am able to teach based on my status as one of the top 1% cosmetic injectors in the nation.

I also spent this afternoon approving holiday cards for VIP clients and dealing with QuickBooks. So, my days run the spectrum of wearing a lot of hats as any entrepreneur does and I love that I get to use my registered nurse hat frequently as well.

I was born… in Wildwood, Georgia. I am a southern belle at heart and it’s so true that you can take the girl out of the south, but you can’t take the south out of the girl. I always say, I was Georgia born and Carolina bred because I grew up mostly in Asheville, North Carolina and also lived many years in Charleston, South Carolina before moving out here to Scottsdale almost ten years ago.

My favorite thing about Arizona… is that we are a healthy state. The sun shines here, there is a ton of hiking- I always say if you want to know what a city worships, look at what structures are on the corners.

We don’t have churches on the corners here in Scottsdale and not that we aren’t religious but we have a Whole Foods, Sprouts, or Trader Joe’s on every corner and it’s just an indication that we are an outdoor, nature-loving, health-driven environment. I love that I get to live in a place that supports my own commitment to health.

I’m listening to… Christmas music, especially Josh Groban. When I’m not listening to Josh Groban I love your classic Vivaldi, Four Seasons.

My family… is mostly back on the east coast and I love going back to visit over the holidays. I am the oldest of four children, so I grew up in a big family that was always busy. There was lots of noise, fun, laughter and love.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… Sara Blakely. Sara is the founder of Spanx and I love her because she is a bootstrapper and I recognize that quality in myself too. She represents what is possible for women and business ownership. She started Spanx in a one-bedroom house in Georgia and then built it into a billion-dollar empire. I think she is also authentic, genuine and an incredible inspiration.

One thing I cannot live without… is my morning yoga. I do yoga every morning in my living room with my cat and that’s my time where no one interrupts me, and I can set my intentions for the day.

When I was younger, I wanted to be… a nurse, that was never a question for me. I grew up in a very medical family- my father is a physician, my mom is a nurse, my sister is a nurse practitioner, and my grandfather was a physician as well. I always had a love for healthcare and nursing just seemed like a natural fit for me.

I’m inspired by… risk takers- people who are so passionate about whatever they have chosen to do that they have courage of conviction and come what may they are standing for an outcome even though it looks like it may never happen.

The one person who motivates me is… it’s hard to pick one person but hands down I would never have achieved the level of success that I’ve achieved in the business world as one of the top 3% female entrepreneurs in the country if I had not very early on surrounded myself with a community of people who were determined that I was going to win no matter what.

They remind me when I feel like quitting or giving up to pick my chin up, get back in the arena and go for another round.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be… I don’t like the word change, I’m more of an advocate for transformation. I like transformation because transforming something is creating it in a way that it hasn’t existed before whereas change is more/better/different of an existing version.

I’m a bit of a transformational junkie myself and I am in the business of understanding women and men. If I were to transform something, it really would be the conversation about aging with grace and that self-care is not vanity. Self-care is simply fuel to care for yourself so that you can care for others better.

The perfect day would be… The perfect day is every day for me. My life is not free of trials and breakdowns but I welcome those and I think that’s what distinguishes an entrepreneur and a trendsetter is that we welcome breakdowns because they give access to breakthroughs. Every day is the perfect day for me because I get to create it with setting intentions in the mornings and then taking actions on those all throughout the day.

My first job was… washing dishes in the cafeteria of the hospital in my hometown of Hendersonville, North Carolina.

My favorite escape… any place tropical, I do love Cabo!

My life… is a miracle. Less than a decade ago business ownership was just an idea that I had- Esthetic Solutions didn’t exist, Emily Tryon known around the globe didn’t exist. My life every day is a miracle and I am grateful every single day for the opportunities I take advantage of and the opportunities that I let pass by as well.

I’m currently working on… business expansion and opening a second location. Our vision statement for Esthetic Solutions is Scottsdale to Singapore by 2024 and we are in the process of opening a second location here in the Valley that I am very excited about so stay tuned!

Always… show up. Showing up is half the battle and in the world of business ownership, it’s easy to want to quit and at some point, anybody would look at you and say you’re perfectly justified in giving up. And to that I would say- always show up

Never… stop learning. I tell my patients, I’m only as good as my last injection. I share with my injectors and business owners who I train because the second you think you know it all, you’re finished because there’s always something more to learn.

Favorite Quote… “Dear future, I’m about to make a move on you.” – Danielle Laporte

Biggest Dream… I have lots of dreams! My biggest business dream is Scottsdale to Singapore by 2024 with Esthetic Solutions having locations and training centers around the globe and being accessible to everyone virtually as well. I’m living my biggest dream- it’s like “Oh! What do I get to create today?!”

My Pet Peeve(s)… people who don’t honor their word.
