Please describe your occupation:
I am a women’s small group fitness trainer, otherwise known as therapist/mediator/educator/friend. It doesn’t seem like a real job but it’s what I do and I love it.
Why did you go into that industry?
Honestly, I didn’t mean to get into the fitness industry. It just kind of happened a long time ago, and I got really good at it.
Are you an Arizona native? If not, when and why did you move to Arizona?
I am an Arizona native. Although I’d much rather say I grew up surfing on North Shore or San Clemente, Arizona has its moments, so I stick around.
Have you ever been married in the past? Would you want to get married/remarried?
I have never been married and I am absolutely open to it if the time and person are right. Definitely not in a rush though.
Do you have any children? Would you like to have children?
Sometimes a feel like a father to my ~100 clients but if we are talking biological kids, I have none. I love kids though so I’ll be stoked to have one of my own someday!
Would you describe yourself as more of an extrovert or introvert? Or a little bit of both?
Although I think I value my alone time more than the average person, I’d still consider myself an extrovert. If I’m in the mood for it, I can make friends with anyone.
If you bring up something I’m passionate about, I’ll talk your ear off. If you bring up something I’m curious about, be prepared for 1000 questions.
Where was your favorite place you have ever visited? Where do you want to go next?
Apples to oranges. I hiked half dome at Yosemite and hiked The Wave at Coyote Buttes in Utah. Those were incredibly breathtaking and probably my favorite landlocked places. I’m more of an island guy though so I’m gonna have to say Namotu Island in Fiji or Kaua’i. I’m dying to go back.
I think about that a lot. I’ll be back there as soon as things are back to normal
Favorite food and favorite restaurant? Why?
I love island-inspired food. I’m a huge fan of Tommy Bahama for both the food and the vibe. They even have someone playing the steel drums to really make you feel like you’re in Hawaii.
Where is your favorite place to grab a cocktail?
My favorite cocktail spot is Hulu’s Modern Tiki. They have a killer MaiTai and, again, those island vibes.
If you were to take another MEP selectee on a date, where would you take them and why?
Olive and Ivy in terminal 4. That way, we don’t have to commit to going to Hawaii on our first date, but we’re already at the airport if it goes well.
Tell us something that many people may not know about you:
One of my favorite stories to tell people is how I was trying to get out of the fitness industry for a while. I bartended, became an EMT, a divemaster, rescue diver, and a photographer all in an attempt to find a new career path.
Despite all that, I’d say that people are most surprised when they find out I was TIME magazines 2006 person of the year.
