AZF: What is your “life motto”?
AKS: “‘To succeed in life, you need two things: ignorance and confidence.’ – Mark Twain”
AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path for you?
AKS: “I did. I always found myself envisioning various brands I wanted to start, including my own leather jacket and jean company. My passion for marketing started during my internship at Hearst with Seventeen Magazine, where I loved every second of it, confirming my desire to pursue a career in this industry. My strategy was always to gain experience and build my reputation by working for other companies before venturing out on my own, which is what I did.”
AZF: How do you feel best supported?
AKS: “I feel the most supported when I’m mentally and physically feeling my best. Some might describe me as a ‘crunchy mom’ due to my high emphasis on the health of both myself and my family. When I get enough sleep, stay hydrated, get a workout in, and fuel my body appropriately, I’m at my best and can perform at my highest.”
AZF: What motivates you to keep going admist the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?
AKS: “My main driving force are my daughters, Winter and Navy. Showing them that it’s possible to blend motherhood with entrepreneurship to prove that women truly can have it all. Also, owning my business allows me the flexibility to create my schedule, giving me the ability to spend more quality time with them and attend all their activities. Additionally, the creative aspect of my work, especially the joy I experience in creating and revamping a brand, is what I love doing and keeps me motivated to keep going.”
AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.
AKS: “My ideal Saturday morning is simple: it consists of enjoying time with my amazing family, which includes my husband, our two daughters, and our labradoodle.”
AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?
AKS: “To embrace failure, for it paves the way for learning, growth, and ultimately, greater successes.”
AZF: What makes you most excited about being an entrepreneur?
AKS: “What excites me most about being an entrepreneur is having the freedom to bring my clients’ vision to life. Delivering a final product that a client loves, or successfully completing an event, makes every challenge of entrepreneurship worth it.”
