With summer on the horizon and travel confidence rising, it’s time to start planning a getaway south of the border.
Both Spirit Airlines and United Airlines are adding new flight routes from the U.S. to Mexico this summer.
Starting July 1, Spirit Airlines will launch service to Puerto Vallarta with daily flights from Los Angeles and weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston.
“Offering our guests convenient flights to beautiful destinations and spectacular beaches is what Spirit Airlines is all about, which makes Puerto Vallarta the perfect new market to connect to major cities in our network,” says John Kirby, Spirit’s vice president of network planning, in a statement.
Spirit also added a new service from Los Angeles to Los Cabos that begins May 5.
United Airlines will also increase flights to or from Mexico by nearly 20% between May and October. Passengers can look forward to more than a 1,000 flights from a handful of U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and Houston to destinations like Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco and Zihuatanejo.
