To determine the world’s most luxurious airports, AllClear Travel Insurance analyzed a list of 69 airports with at least ten passenger lounges available and ranked each one across multiple factors, including the number of designer shops within the airport, the number of nearby 4- and 5-star hotels, the number of lounges available to passengers and whether travelers have access to a champagne bar or caviar house while waiting to board.
Five airports stood out for their luxury travel experiences, offering passengers extravagant opportunities to relax, prepare for and unwind between trips. Here are the top five most luxurious airports in the world, according to the AllClear report.
1. Dubai International Airport
Dubai airport takes the crown in luxury, featuring its own 5-star hotel located inside the airport, zen gardens, an outdoor swimming pool, a gym, cinemas and numerous restaurants that travelers can enjoy. Dubai is one of the world’s most luxurious travel destinations, giving passengers access to over 70 four- and five-star hotels within a three-mile radius of the airport.
2. London Heathrow Airport
Often recognized as the busiest airport in Europe, the London Heathrow Airport scored second place for providing one of the largest numbers of lounges to choose from, as well as offering the majority of the world’s most luxury shopping brands that give passengers a designer shopping experience.
3. Doha International Airport
Doha International Airport landed a spot on the top five list of most luxurious airports for the high number of luxury shopping brands within the airport and four- and five-star hotels located nearby, as well as for being a destination in and of itself. The airport boasts a wave-shaped roof and interiors that match the aquatic theme throughout, which includes serene water features that mimic the gentle waves of the Arabian Gulf.
4. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport
At the Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, passengers can enjoy shopping from numerous designer brands, including Louis Vuitton and Yves Saint Laurent, which make the airport one of the most luxurious in the world. The airport also offers luxury transportation services that take passengers into the city of love.
5. Sydney International Airport
Sydney International Airport completes the list of the top five most luxurious airports with the highest luxury brand score. The airport offers luxury brands across multiple terminals, including the likes of Cartier, Rolex and Armani. Plus, it boasts a runway that extends into Botany Bay, giving passengers an impressive view of runway lights along the water.
