The world’s first air travel experience designed specifically for dogs is launching this month.
BARK, a leading global dog brand with a mission to make all dogs happy, has partnered with private jet charter company Talon Air to launch the new dog-centric flight service. Built for dogs first and their human companions second, BARK Air revolutionizes flying for dogs by delivering first-class flights that provide four-legged passengers with comfort, safety and plenty of treats.
The first BARK Air flights are set to take off from New York on Thursday, March 23. Initial routes will serve the New York City metro area out of the Westchester County Airport (HPN) with flights to the Los Angeles area via Van Nuys (VNY) and London, England, via Stansted Airport (STN).
While Talon Air is responsible for all aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance-related matters, BARK is focused on creating and delivering a world-class air travel experience for dogs and their people. From booking to arrival to in-flight services and disembarkation, dogs are the true VIPs aboard BARK Air as they say goodbye to less-than-ideal traveling conditions, like crates and stressful cargo rides, and hello to curated, luxurious flights.
Upon booking, humans will be contacted by a BARK Air concierge who will collect information about each dog and their travel plans to ensure the best possible experience. On travel day, passengers will enjoy a simple, efficient check-in process and security screening without crates or stressful lines.
Before boarding the plane, pups will have the chance to meet the other passengers, while a highly skilled BARK Air concierge will be present to make sure four-legged flyers settle into their flight and that seating is appropriate and comfortable for each dog and their owner.
A “Dogs Fly First” flight prep will set the mood within the cabin with calming aids such as pheromone, music, warm lavender-scented refreshment towels and other comforts, ensuring that dogs feel stress-free as soon as they step onto the plane. “Just in Case” bags filled with calming treats, leashes, poop bags and more will also be provided at the gate.
Once onboard, dogs will be served their beverage of choice from a menu consisting of water, bone broth and more during ascent and descent to ensure they do not experience any ear discomfort commonly caused by changes in cabin pressure. Additionally, a variety of BARK-branded treats, snacks and surprises will be provided throughout the flight. Pups can also expect custom beds, a shoe menu for shredding and chewing, gourmet dog-friendly dining and a button for belly rubs at every seat.
Dogs of all breeds and sizes are welcome aboard the VIP flight experience. Each BARK Air ticket is good for one dog and one human, however, BARK Air does offer a limited number of additional tickets for an additional price. Bookings are currently available for flights beginning this May.
