Utah’s Black Desert Resort Unveils First Phase Ahead of 2025 Opening

Southern Utah is slated to welcome a new era of hospitality with the preview opening of Black Desert Resort on October 16. Spanning over 600 acres and set at the convergence of the Mojave Desert, the Great Basin, and the Colorado Plateau, Black Desert – which is being developed by Reef Capital Partners – is slated to become Utah’s largest resort upon completion in Spring 2025.

Situated among the sprawling, centuries-old canvas of black lava beds and burnt-red sandstone cliffs of Greater Zion, Black Desert Resort will also offer access to more than 200 acres of preserved land, six miles of hiking trails, scenic bike paths, and more: the perfect launch pad for adventurous and engaging travelers.

The resort’s preview period will showcase 800 guest rooms and suites, seven food and beverage outlets, and 45,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting and event space. A heated outdoor pool and hot tub will round out the initial offerings.

Beginning October 16, guests of Black Desert Resort will be able to experience dining and adventure, including a Tom Weiskopf-designed championship golf course characterized by ancient basalt rock formations integrated into the landscape, creating a visually stunning contrast against the green fairways and sandstone cliffs. Food and beverage experiences include:

Latitude: A family-friendly, open-air dining experience with a diverse menu.

Basalt: Offers prime, dry-aged beef and sustainable seafood and a one-of-a-kind beverage experience.

20th Hole: Clubhouse chic with classic dishes, a wide range of beers on tap, and a curated back bar.

Flo Lobby Bar: Elevated cocktails and light bites.

Lava Love Coffee Bar: Grab-and-go options with homemade pastries, desserts, breakfast and lunch.

Oasis: A Mexican-style taqueria.

Club 73: A unique dining experience nestled beside “The Yard” with a 24′ outdoor TV, 36-hole putting course, hot tubs, and views of the Vermillion Cliffs, Club 73 provides diners with a laid-back atmosphere.

Black Desert Resort will offer flexible, light-filled indoor-outdoor meeting space and distinctive outdoor event venues, including expansive ballrooms with multiple breakout capabilities and scenic terraces.

As part of its initial debut, Black Desert Resort is offering an exclusive preview promotion for guests from October 16 through March 31, 2025. The special offer features rates starting at $199 per night, allowing guests to be among the first to experience their newest resort destination.

Black Desert is also offering a Championship Stay & Play Package for the ultimate golf getaway. Guests will enjoy accommodations in a select room type, one round of golf per person at the prestigious Black Desert Golf course, including cart fees and all on-course food and nonalcoholic beverages, practice facility access featuring Trackman Technology, forecaddie service and a tee gift.
