I don’t know about you, but I love breakfast. In fact, I would eat breakfast three times a day if my waistline allowed it. So, when I do eat breakfast I tend to go all out. And I like finding unique breakfast joints that serve up good old-fashion eats. You know, like chocolate-chip pancakes, French toast and eggs Benedict. Well, I recently ate at one of Sunnyslope’s newest hot spots, Scramble restaurant, to try those breakfast staples that I’ve been craving.
Tucked into the northwest corner of Mountain View Road and 7th Street is the casually chic breakfast bistro serving up some of mom’s classic morning goodies. Designed for the businessmen and women stuck in overdrive, guests are greeted with a three-tiered wall-mounted menu that quickly allows them to order, pay, then sit—a restaurant concept many Valley residents are experiencing more and more frequently. After browsing their ever-enticing options, I decided on an old standby, French toast. However, this classic’s served with a twist. Scramble’s version features four hand-dipped, vanilla custard-coated slices, fanned across a plate, paired with warm maple syrup and Scramble’s own signature butter. My breakfast companion decided to steer away from ordinary and spice things up. She chose a savory brizza (breakfast pizza) layered with garlic, spinach, thyme and mushrooms. Within minutes, our orders were entered and we grabbed a table indoors, though outdoor dining is an option. Once seated, I quickly noticed the interior’s bright white and citrus-color scheme. Stainless steel accents help to tie the space together. A nice, clean palette to start to morning.
As we chatted, we shared a morning appetizer, Scramble’s breakfast parfait. Freshly made, this treat offers scoopfuls of granola, yogurt and mixed berries that were heavenly (and really could have been a meal in itself). Minutes later, our morning meals had arrived. The presentation was perfect and, more importantly, the food was delicious. Chef German Sega’s French toast was like having dessert for breakfast (and I’m not one to argue with that). And having worked at such Valley restaurants like Sea Saw, Luc’s and Roka Akor, Sega’s faithful followers would expect no different. (Psst, I heard the chef’s signature Santa Fe eggs Benedict–blackened ham, poached egg on jalapeno corn bread topped with chipotle hollandaise sauce–is out of this world.) I’m always looking for new breakfast spots to hit up on the weekends. Breakfast is my favorite meal hands-down and this place sounds fantastic!
Right on with Scramble! Best breakfast in town for the money! Took them family there over the weekend. We were a little intimidated with the line once we arrived but it moved very quickly. Great choices for the kids menu and it was more than they could eat. Both and the French toast which my wife and I gladly helped them finish. I had the Southwest Brizza and my wife had the veggie omelette. Both were excellent. Be sure to try the coffee as it is some of the best around, and free refills!
breakfast places are so fun on the weekends – – i wonder if they stay busy during the week??

i love love love breakfast too. i seriously make myself breakfast for dinner. i really need to try Scramble. there is no question i would love it.
I wake up hungry so I rarely go out to breakfast but I do love eggs Benedict!

Very good, a great place to go. I had the Breakfast Pizza (Bariza) a good size portion. If in the area I will definitly stop again.
