Foodie news roundup for the week of Nov. 4.
On Nov. 8, Valley foodies will make their way to Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North for Cooks & Corks (pictured). The state’s top chefs and a world-class collection of winemakers will be on hand to treat taste buds during this self-guided culinary event. Guests can expect live music and a multi-course menu from Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale Executive Chef Mel Mecinas, along with other Valley chefs. The lineup includes Executive Chef Frank Belosic and Sous Chef Lee Hillson of The Phoenician Resort’s Il Terrazzo; Chef Michael O’Dowd of Renegade by MOD; Chef Matt Carter of Zinc Bistro, The Mission and The House Brasserie; Executive Chef Beau MacMillan of The Sanctuary Resort; Executive Chef Roberto Madrid of The Westin Kierland’s Deseo; Executive Chef Jason Connelly of J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge’s Stone Grill; Executive Chef Travis Garner of The Capital Grille; and Executive Chef Christopher Nicosia of Sassi. All funds will go to the Scottsdale League for the Arts in its effort to promote the arts and arts education in Arizona. Tickets are $95. www.cooksandcorks.org.
Friday, Nov. 8 , the DC Ranch Grimaldi’s Pizzeria is hosting a free Movie Night. The family fun event will feature live music, snacks and a screening of “The Lorax.” Live music starts at 6 p.m. Movie starts at 8 p.m.
On Monday, Nov. 11, Hotel Valley Ho’s ZuZu hosts Monday Night Chef’s Table featuring Elk Cove Vineyards. The four-course meal (including slow-roasted beef tenderloin) is $56 plus tax and gratuity and requires reservations by calling 480.421.7997.
Josh Hebert of Scottsdale’s POSH restaurant is heading over to Cowboy Ciao for a Sommelier Showdown on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Hebert will compete against Cowboy Ciao owner/wino, Peter Kasperski. The duo will pair wines with each course in a competition for guest’s votes; there will be five courses and 10 wines for $55. To reserve your spot, call 480.946.3111.
Del Frisco’s Grille in Phoenix celebrates Movember all month long with “Movember Mondays.” Drop by to show off your mustache to receive a complimentary appetizer, or drop in any day during the month and receive a free Lyft taxi ride home (new Lyft costumers only, $20 value). Throughout the month, Del Frisco’s Grille will also donate proceeds from Movember T-shirts and select Movember MENu items such as the Stiff Upper Lip Cocktail and The Chick Magnet wrap or The Close Shave Steak to the Movember Foundation. Or guests can add a donation when they pay for their meals. Del Frisco’s Grille will also hold a “Best in Mo” mustache contest. Guests can enter photos of their mustache with a creative title on the Facebook page for Del Frisco’s Grille – Phoenix through Nov. 22. Voting will take place Nov. 23 – 30, and the winner will be announced on Dec. 3 and will receive a dinner for four at Del Frisco’s Grille.
