Just in time for this weekend’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon, Rita’s Kitchen at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn offers a specially priced prix-fixe menu on race weekend, from Jan. 17-19. Diners get a choice of entrée and a warm cinnamon maple apple tart for dessert.
Through Feb. 7, Sprinkles is launching Candace’s Cupcake Challenge by asking elementary school students in Maricopa County to submit their cake and frosting recipes. Founder of Sprinkles, Candace Nelson, will then choose her favorite three recipes which will be baked and sold at Sprinkles Scottsdale from Feb. 24 to Feb. 28. The public can cast their vote by buying their favorite during that time. The three schools that each of the students attend will receive monetary donations and cupcake prizes. The school with the student’s top-selling cupcake will receive $1,000 cash donation and a cupcake party for the entire school. The second- and third best-selling cupcakes will each receive a cupcake party for the submitting classroom and cash donations to the school for $500 and $250 respectively.
On Sunday, Jan. 19, RA Sushi at Kierland Commons is hosting an event with Pinot’s Palette, an upscale paint and sip studio. Pinot’s Palette’s artists will bring the necessary supplies to RA Sushi so guests can enjoy sushi and cocktails while recreating a painting, titled “Whimsical Fall.” The class is typically $35, but guests RA Sushi event guests will save $5 when registering with a special discount code: “RA.” Food and drinks not included.
Scottsdale’s Twisted Rose Winery hosts a special Grgich Hills Estate wine-pairing dinner on Jan. 21. Breaded pork medallions and braised short ribs are on the six-course menu. $65 plus tax and tip. Reservations are required by calling 480.398.7700 by Jan. 17.
The Boulders Resort (pictured) hosts a Food and Wine Festival event on Monday, Jan. 20 featuring wines from California from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The event is located at The Boulderview Room & Patio at the Club. Specialty menu items will be available, along with the wines. $60 per person. Reservations can be made by calling 480.595.3496.
