The Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council has announced that more than a dozen Arizona restaurants are taking part in the first-ever “Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge.” Valley chefs will re-imagine one of the six beloved brands of Girl Scout cookies – Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs, Samoas, Savannah Smiles, Trefoils or Thin Mints – into a custom dessert menu item.
The chefs selected their cookie flavor via a random drawing and have agreed to feature the dessert on their menu from Feb. 1-28, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the transformation of their Camp Sombrero. (Camp Sombrero is owned by the Council and has served girls over the last 40 years. This 14.5-acre site will be transformed into the Leadership Center for Girls and Women. This urban program center, with camp appeal, will provide leadership training for girls and women statewide, give girls their first camping experience close to home for some, and serve the surrounding community groups, partner organizations and schools.)
