Looking for a way to beat the summer break-boredom blues? Starting today, June 22, to July 27, Sierra Bonita Catering Company in Phoenix will be hosting a weekly Summer Kids Cooking Camp. Children will learn how to prepare dishes from all meal times, including snacks, breakfast, lunch and dinner. During the camp, students will also be taught about kitchen safety and sanitation, with a strong emphasis on team work. For the weekly classes, each Friday at the conclusion of the Summer Kids Cooking Camp, students will prepare a dinner party for their parents. They will help Chef Paul prepare the meal, learn how to set a table and serve the guests.
Classes will be held Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Available dates are: June 22-26; July 13-17; July 20-24; and July 27-31. There also Saturday Express classes, which are condensed versions of a weekday class. These are offered from 9 a.m. to noon on June 13; June 20; and July 25. The Summer Kids Cooking Camp is $330 per student for the weekday classes, which includes an apron, cookbook and two tickets to the final dinner party. The Express Cooking Classes are $75 per student. Classes will be held at the Orangewood Presbyterian Church at 7321 N. 10th St., Phoenix, AZ 85020. To register, email kim@sbgcatering.com.
