Grocery Great: Freshly

Though eating well is one of the most important things you can do in your day, many people find it hard to make time for nutritious meals, finding it much easier to hit up a drive-thru than make a proper meal at home. That is where Freshly comes in.
Freshly is a new Tempe-based meal-delivery service founded by Michael Wystrach and Carter Comstock, both University of Arizona graduates. The meals delivered by Freshly are paleo-inspired, crafted from all-natural, local ingredients. The meals are comprised of ingredients that are free from gluten, artificial sweeteners, added sugars and hormones. Freshly offers several flexible plans, that range from receiving six meals ($69 per week) to 21 meals ($229 per week) per week. There is even a Freshly Fit program for patrons who are seeking weight loss.
Freshly has shipped 200,000 meals in its first five months of business and is on pace to ship one million meals in 2015. Later this year, Freshly plans to be on the east coast and shipping to 80 percent of the country.

With Freshly, convenience is key. There are no ovens, pots or pans required for using Freshly; simply pop the meal in the microwave–perfect for stashing in the work fridge for a healthy lunch or heating up on your way out the door in the morning.
The best part of Freshly is that you can pick the meals you would like delivered to you. Choose from lighter fare like Greek yogurt with berries and nuts for breakfast or more hearty eats like country-fried chicken with pureed sweet potatoes, and there are dishes to please just about any craving (seafood vs. meat, bean-packed protein picks vs. chicken or turkey). After sampling a few Freshly dishes, favorites included flavorful turkey meatballs with zucchini “pasta” and the hearty chicken rustica with cauliflower gratin.
