Southern Rail invites guests to enjoy the weather, listen to soothing jazz and savor cocktails and comfort food from their patio for the biannual Jazz & Jambalaya series. The series will take place every Sunday through April 30, excluding Easter, and the jazz bands will play from 5 to 8 p.m. Featured local jazz artists include the Joe Costello Project, Notes from Neptune and The Phoenician Four.
Pomelo, located at The Orchard Phoenix, has announced happy hour seven days a week. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., enjoy $5 cocktails and $6 specialty cocktails, $1 off beers and $5 glasses of wine and specialty appetizers in the bar and lounge area.
The 8th Annual Great American Barbecue & Beer Festival returns to Downtown Chandler on Saturday, March 25. This year will be the biggest and best year yet with country superstar Easton Corbin set to headline the entertainment, expanded event zones, and over 60 barbecue and food vendors from across the nation serving up over 20,000 lbs of mouth-watering BBQ paired with 200 kegs of the state’s finest craft beer from SanTan Brewing Company. Presale general admission tickets are available for $15 online and will be $20 at the gate day of. During online presale, active duty and retired military persons may purchase up to four general admission tickets for 50 percent off. To redeem, purchaser must show valid military ID at time of entry into event. Food and beverages are sold separately. Children 12 years of age and younger are admitted for free.
The Wigwam has unveiled its Wine Dinner Series. On Friday, March 24, and Saturday, March 25, enjoy a menu from Executive Sous Chef, Chris Knouse and wines from Grgich Hills. The dinner is $99 plus tax and gratuity.
On Friday, March 24, Sip Coffee & Beer Garage in Phoenix is hosting a Tap Takeover with Modern Times Beer. Starting at 5 p.m., try all five featured beers including Modern Times’ brand new Pilsner and limited-time “Booming Rollers” IPA. Then, Saturday, March 25 at Sip Coffee & Beer House in Scottsdale, enjoy a Tap Takeover–with a side of live music, eats and more–in honor of Sip Coffee & Beer’s third birthday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Arizona Hemophilia Association hosts the 33rd Annual My Nana’s Best Tasting Salsa Challenge March 25 and 26 at Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 26. The annual two-day festival is a culinary competition benefiting the Arizona Hemophilia Association and features more than 100 freshly made salsas from local Valley chefs, restaurants, businesses and individual competitors. Attendees can enjoy all the chips and salsa they can eat while a panel of judges vote for their favorite recipes. Event-goers can look forward to live music, a kids zone and more. Tickets for the event are just $15 and include all the chips and salsa you can eat. Children under the age of 12 are free. VIP tickets will also be available for purchase for $55 and include admittance into the VIP tent with complimentary food and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
