UnderTow’s first educational voyages of the year are here, featuring tropical cocktails, take-home recipes and a glimpse into the history of tiki culture.
Called “You Can’t Spell Beachcomber Without M.O.B.,” the two seminars take place at UnderTow Arcadia on Saturday January 14 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. and at UnderTow Gilbert on Sunday, January 15 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Host Jason T. Smith, aka “America’s No.1 thrifter,” will take guests on a journey through the ledgers of the “founding father” of tiki culture Don the Beachcomber, unveiling how a little tropical bar in Hollywood led to a business deal with the Chicago Mob, thus ultimately giving birth to a tiki empire in the Windy City.
During the seminars, guests will also enjoy three of UnderTow’s beloved classic cocktails inspired by Don the Beachcomber himself: Missionary’s Downfall, Never Say Die and the Nui Nui.
Tickets for the seminar are $75 per person, which include UnderTow’s three cocktails as well as a bottle of Bacardi Superior Rum and a recipe card for all the recipes shared at the seminar, so guests can recreate the tropical drinks at home.
