The Coffee Builders, a new breakfast and lunch cafe serving specialty coffee and fine foods, is now open at Porter Barn Wood in Downtown Phoenix.
Located off 7th St. and Buckeye Road, customers can enjoy elevated breakfast and lunch offerings Monday through Friday paired with premium coffee brewed in-house using locally roasted beans. The innovative menu at The Coffee Builders was designed and curated by Thomas Porter of Porter Barn Wood, who combines creative flavors from around the world with fresh, local ingredients to create a selection of elegant dishes and fun seasonal offerings.
The Coffee Builders’ signature dish is an ever-changing variety of smørrebrød, a Danish-style open-faced sandwich piled high with a variety of colorful, farm-fresh ingredients atop a fresh-baked, traditional Danish rye bread called Rugbrød. In addition to the smørrebrød, The Coffee Builders offers German- and French-inspired fresh-baked pastries, with flavors such as blueberry, cream cheese, bourbon maple and a savory spinach and artichoke.
Local Arizonian and head barista Johnny Rios, formerly of Jobot Coffee and Wren and Wolf, is certified by the International Barista & Coffee Academy (IBCA) and is behind the bar serving up the highest quality caffeinated beverages in town. The Coffee Builders worked with a top local roaster to create a custom espresso blend, which is also used in the cafe’s affogato dessert pairing coffee and ice cream. Other beverage offerings include premium loose-leaf teas, cold brew on tap, blended drinks and smoothies.
The all-new cafe seats approximately 20 people inside a stylish space lined with walnut-wood, quartz and brass, while high-end finishes and handmade artistic touches will make guests feel like they are in a fine dining experience rather than a coffee shop. The Coffee Builders is also available for private events, boasting integrated sound, light and visuals that are perfect for presentations and private dinners.
