If you’re a fan of the super romantic Sassi restaurant, get excited: The Scottsdale restaurant has two exciting events coming up to keep on your dining radar.
June 13 On Sunday, Sassi is hosting a Sundays with Chef Peter DeRuvo cooking series throughout the year focusing on the regional cuisine of Italy. From 2 to 4 p.m. this Sunday Chef DeRuvo will teach an interactive farm-to-table cooking class (Pat Duncan of Duncan’s Farm will also be on-hand to teach). Along with the class, students will get to indulge in a three-course meal, paired with prosecco. Need a sneak peek at the menu? The first course is hand-pulled mozzarella from scratch with tomatoes, basil, new olive oil and sea salt. The entree features grilled pizza del Orto with eggplant, squashes and herbs. Dessert will be frozen Italian ice flavored with melons. Yes, please. The class is $95 per person plus tax and gratuity. Reservations and payment can be made at www.sassi.biz/shop.
June 16 In July, Sassi’s Chef DeRuvo has the distinguished honor of cooking at New York City’s James Beard House. (He’ll be preparing an “Italian Summer” feast.) To celebrate this wonderful event, Sassi is hosting a James Beard preview dinner on June 16 at 6:30 p.m. The fabulous five-course feast features squid ink tonnarelli, roasted lamb loin, antipasti of a chilled summer pea soup with fried ceci beans, house-cured pancetta and Queen Creek olive oil, and much more. (Wine pairings and passed spuntini appetizers will also be included.) The event is $85 plus tax and gratuity. Reservations and payment can be made at www.sassi.biz/shop. (A $25 deposit is required at the time of reservation.)
