Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month? Well, July was designated National Ice Cream Month in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan. Pres. Reagan had the right idea. We think that’s reason enough to polish up those spoons and enjoy this evening’s Chef Chill Off event in Phoenix. (Plus, proceeds benefit a wonderful children’s organization. Ice cream that helps kids? Does it take more convincing than that?)
The Chef Chill Off will bring together an intimate group of the Valley’s top chefs who will concoct their own unique spin using the Dessert Trio ice cream, the newest offering from Blue Bell Ice Cream. Dessert Trio features chunks of chocolate chips cookies, pecan brownies pieces and chocolate-coated cake surrounded by a swirl of rich chocolate sauce throughout their signature Homemade Vanilla ice cream. Tickets prices are $10, with which attendees will get samples of every chefs’ creation and will then have the chance to vote for their favorite Dessert Trio dessert. The winning chef may feature the recipe in their restaurant for a night. Phoenix Children’s Hospital, the Chef Chill Off nonprofit partner, will benefit from 100 percent of all ticket sales.
Chefs slated to participate in the Chill Off event include:
Tracy Dempsey, Tracy Dempsey Originals
Tammie Coe, Tammie Coe Cakes,
Jeff Kraus, Truckin’ Good Food
Tudie Frank-Johnson, D’licious Dishes
Brandon Crouser, Pittsburgh Willy’s
Maizie Miller, Maizie’s Cafe
The cool–and cooling–event will take place tonight at CO+HOOTS in Phoenix (825 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, 602.688.2825) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door or by visiting http://action.phoenixchildrens.com/site/Calendar/2103093228?view=Detail&id=104562.
