Desert Diamond Arena Unveils $42 Million Transformation

A cornerstone of Glendale’s vibrant entertainment scene, Desert Diamond Arena (DDA) announced details of its $42 million renovation, set to transform the venue into a premier “music mecca” and entertainment hub. With completion slated for spring 2025, this redesign aims to elevate the arena into a state-of-the-art destination for concerts, events, and immersive experiences.

The transformation is led by ASM Global, a top venue operator and developer, collaborating with U.K.-based Forward Associates, known for its guest experience expertise, and renowned design firm HOK. The renovation will enhance 25 key spaces throughout the venue and ensure Desert Diamond Arena continues its legacy as a leader in entertainment.

Originally opened in December 2003, DDA played a pivotal role in transforming Glendale into a thriving entertainment district. This $42 million re-imagination is part of a broader initiative to revitalize the surrounding 250-acre entertainment complex, including State Farm Stadium, 13 hotels, Desert Diamond Casino, and the Westgate Entertainment District.

“Desert Diamond Arena’s renovation is a transformative investment that solidifies Glendale as a premier entertainment destination in the Southwest,” Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps said. “With state-of-the-art amenities, reimagined suites, and expanded programming, we are poised to offer unforgettable experiences that fuel economic growth and attract events to the region.”

Key upgrades include the addition of the street-inspired Floor Bar, an exciting on-course marketplace featuring culinary creations, and private booths in the exclusive Studio 623. Guests can also enjoy an elevated experience at the Bassline Bar and the VIP Club at The View, which offers sweeping stage views from the third floor.

Exclusive spaces such as 22 Encore Club Theatre Boxes, 14 Club 623 Studio Booths, and 341 Club Seats in The View will redefine live entertainment by offering premium options for guests seeking a more intimate and high-end experience. These new offerings will cater to a wide range of guests.

ASM Global is setting DDA as a prototype for other venues across the U.S. to replicate. The ongoing renovations are focused on enhancing the guest experience and establishing the arena as a model for future high-impact venue transformations.

“The improved arena will deliver a first-class experience for every guest, from general admission attendees to premium club members, raising Glendale’s profile as a leading U.S. entertainment district,” said Doug Thornton, executive VP of arenas, stadiums, and theaters at ASM Global.

The grand reveal of the transformed arena is scheduled for spring 2025, capping off three consecutive years of record-breaking box office success. As the venue prepares to reopen, it will continue hosting various events, including concerts, professional sports, and other live performances.

Desert Diamond Arena is home to the Arizona Rattlers Arena Football team and the Professional Bull Riders Arizona Ridge Riders, and it regularly hosts concerts from world-renowned artists. With its capacity for 19,000 concertgoers, the arena has hosted performances by artists like Prince, U2, The Rolling Stones, Katy Perry, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift.
