Admit it, your “creative” New Year’s resolution is actually pretty cliche and involves losing some lbs before spring time comes along. Losing weight doesn’t mean you have to stay in every night, especially with TY KU Asian Wine & Spirits’ all-natural, low calorie cocktails that are free of preservatives, tannins and sulfites. Thank God!
TY KU’s low calorie cocktails are the perfect alternative to high sugar and fattening drinks of the season like egg nog and Irish coffee. With only 72 calories per serving, you can stay on track with your daily calorie intake that will help you reach your goal weight for 2010.
TY KU Premium Liqueur is created with Soju, an Asian vodka that acts as a flavor catalyst. Just add your favorite fruit, mixers or garnish and the flavors are absorbed throughout the drink—creating delicious cocktails at a fraction of the calorie count. Plus, TY KU is sulfite-free, so say goodbye to hangovers and bloat! You’ll be ready for an early workout no matter how late you were out the night before.

TY KU’s New Concoctions
This year, move on from the same boring vodka soda or rum and coke cocktails and try the newest “it” spirit, Soju. The most consumed beverage in the world, this clear, smooth Asian Spirit is low carb, sugar free, and at one third the calories of Vodka, is an easy alternative to create delicious cocktails.
Alcohol Calorie Facts
How many extra calories are you consuming on alcohol?
“The number of calories in mixed drinks depends on several things, including the amount and proof of the alcohol; the mixers; and the size of the drink.”
“It’s the mixers, syrups, and sodas that really get people into calorie trouble, because most drinks start with 1.5 ounces of distilled spirits that only have around 96 calories, but mixologists can easily turn that into a drink with hundreds of calories,” says Carolyn O’Neil, MS, RD, co-author of The Dish on Eating Healthy and Being Fabulous.
The higher the alcohol content, the higher the calories. Check out the proof per calories:
- 80-proof vodka (40% alcohol; the most common type) has 64 calories per 1oz
- 86-proof vodka (43% alcohol) has 70 calories/1 oz
- 90-proof vodka (45% alcohol) has 73 calories/1 oz
- 100-proof vodka (50% alcohol) has 82 calories/1 oz
The Superfruit martini sounds yummy.
Yum! The Tokyo Tea is right up my alley.
Wow, thanks for the tips Jacquelyn. I had no idea that even just 40 proof vodka had 64 calories PER OUNCE. I love fruity cocktails, so I’m eager to try some of these recipes. I haven’t seen TY KU around, is it something I can find at a local BevMo…or is it just at the corner liquor store?
@Reina – there is a store locator on the company web site: trytyku.com
I’ve never purchased anything like this for my home, but I’ve had TY KU Sake (a black bottle versus the green liqueur in the article) at a restaurant. Best served chilled and it is remarkable!
TY KU Sake is my favorite also! I do really like the tokyo tea, its so easy to make and the alcohol content is a little higher than the sake 😉
