Loads of Valley yogis will come together this Saturday for a free hot yoga class at Biltmore Fashion Park as part of Lululemon Athletica’s Salutation Nation initiative going on across the continent. I call it “hot yoga” as an anticipated 400 people will stretch their limbs outdoors and in the blazing Arizona heat at the upscale shopping complex’s center lawn.
The athletic-apparel store, Lululemon Athletica, hopes to have more than 10,000 people celebrating the practice of yoga on this very day. The open to the public class, lead by Instructors Julie Blue and Jenn Chiarelli, along with nine yoga ambassadors, will start bright and early at 9 a.m.
Yoga advocates and aficionados will gather at Lululemon stores across the nation in 35 different states, as well as in Canada, Australia and China. However, some stores will co-host the event, including the Valley’s two locations. The store in the Borgata of Scottsdale will unite with the Phoenix location to present Salutation Nation this Saturday.
More than just a yoga class, Biltmore Fashion Park is spicing things up a bit. In perfect summer-style, Salutation Nation will be delivered in beach party theme and True Food Kitchen, Zinburger and Mojo Yogurt will be on hand with giveaways. Plus enjoy your yoga class with the sounds from a talented DJ spinning “deep house and soulful music, both energetic and soothing,” according to The Arizona Republic.
Be sure to BYOM (bring your own mat), as only 25 participants will win a Lululemon mat.
“It’s like a thank you to our community – a free event to come out and celebrate one another,” said Emily Crozier, manager at the Phoenix Lululemon.
The instructors for the day, Blue and Chiarelli, teach at LifePower Yoga in Scottsdale and will take turns teaching the class. The ambassadors are volunteers who will help participants stretch into the poses, according to The Arizona Republic.
The class is open to beginners and experts. The instructors will give beginner modifications in addition to the expert poses.
