A decade of brews – that’s what we’re celebrating at the annual Urban Ale Trail event, which returns this year on Saturday, October 12 and brings a collection of local craft brews, food and live music to the streets of downtown Phoenix. The 2024 event embraces a “Rock ‘n Hops” theme, adding more fun to the experience.
The Urban Ale Trail will feature more than 30 participating bars and restaurants throughout the Downtown Core and Roosevelt Row. Each will offer unique beer and food pairings for $5 per stop.
“The DTPHX Urban Ale Trail is a perfect opportunity to try a vast assortment of downtown’s best bars and restaurants all within walking distance,” Skyler Scott, Marketing Director of Downtown Phoenix, said. “From independent breweries to upscale dining venues, the diversity of establishments gives attendees various options to explore.”
Newcomers to the Ale Trail will have plenty to look forward to. For first-timers, Scott suggests planning your route by checking the event map online to make the most of your time. For those interested in live music, this year’s event will include “suggested set lists,” featuring shops with live performances that are all nearby. This allows participants to enjoy their favorite bands while sampling local brews and bites.
Scott also advises participants to arrive early as the first attendees will receive a special commemorative Urban Ale Trail lanyard and coaster set. Other tips include bringing cash for tips, wearing sunscreen and staying hydrated. Comfortable walking shoes are essential, as the event covers a lot of ground. The food and beer pairings are one highlight of the day.
“All of this year’s food and beer pairings sound amazing – choosing one favorite would be hard,” Scott said. She suggests stepping out of your comfort zone and trying a new restaurant or brewery you’ve never visited – you might discover a new favorite spot.
The Urban Ale Trail is a self-guided event that allows participants to explore Downtown Phoenix at their own pace. Registration is not required, and attendees can start at any of the participating locations. For those who want to immerse themselves in the “Rock ‘n Hops” spirit, Scott encourages adding some rock star flair to their outfits. Throw on your favorite band tee or a wig, and don’t forget the drumsticks.
With *hopefully* perfect fall weather, live music, and great local brews, this year’s Urban Ale Trail promises to be a hit for beer lovers and rock ‘n roll fans. For more information and to view the full list of participating locations, visit dtphx.org/aletrail.
