Breast Cancer Awareness month sure comes with a hefty sum of perks! And a prominent one, Pilates For Pink by Shape magazine, will take place this Sunday, Oct. 24 at Wilkin Ramada at the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale.
This Breast Cancer Awareness initiative starting at 10 a.m. will have us ladies working our core outdoors for a great cause!
Shape magazine started Pilates for Pink in New York City five years ago. Well obviously today, it has expanded. Kelly Snailum, co-owner of Remedy Pilates and Massage has now made it a Scottsdale tradition.
Want to help boost the tradition? Snailum is in search of local vendors to donate to the raffle and gift bags.
The studio will give 100% of the proceeds to breast cancer awareness as many of her patients and survivors “turn to Pilates for a release,” according to The Arizona Republic.
“Pilates has a lot of benefits for people going through post-mastectomy,” Snailum said. “It also helps with trauma or stress in their lives. We provide a peaceful and serene atmosphere for them. It’s a different kind of personal connection,” according to The Arizona Republic.
Pilates for Pink is a 55-minute class, free of charge to those who make a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Participants must bring their own mats (no machines will be used) and wear comfortable work-out clothes.
