Drawing inspiration from a desire to create a space that transcends traditional play environments, The Little Play Avenue (TLPA) is a place for children from infancy to seven years old to learn, play and grow. The business, which opened this month, provides an educational, engaging environment that allows families to spend time together while supporting their child’s development.
Owner Leena Hasbini was born and raised in Tampa. She earned an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Florida and spent seven years in private and public education. She also worked in the homebuilding and luxury interior design industry in Florida and later in Phoenix, where she’s lived since 2018.
“Each step in my career has been a building block toward creating The Little Play Avenue, where educational philosophy meets exquisite design to foster curiosity, wonder and growth,” Leena said.
After her son was born, Leena was inspired to create a space that “surpasses traditional play environments while also integrating educational elements.”
“I see his innate curiosity, boundless imagination and joyous spirit, and I yearned for a space where these qualities could flourish. Observing a lack of high-quality, educational play spaces for children, I envisioned a place where young minds could explore and learn in an environment that also caters to families,” Leena said.
Inside is a custom-built play village and rotating activity center highlighting a unique educational topic each month. Themes include dinosaurs, American presidents, entrepreneurship, trains, oceans and more. Activities for older children are designed to challenge their skills through more complex setups, while younger kids can find activities that encourage exploration and sensory development.
TLPA also offers National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standard-based educational classes, workshops, events, and a customizable birthday party and event spaces.
“Our approach to events is what truly sets us apart. We understand that each child’s birthday is a momentous occasion, and our goal is to make every festivity spectacular and stress-free,” Leena said. “Our turnkey solutions ensure that every party is an unforgettable memory for the family and their guests.”
The company provides 24 custom-designed themes for kids to choose from, ranging from princesses to explorers. Add-ons include photography, décor, personalized activities, and curated packaged gifts that are wrapped in-house, allowing party guests to come in without having to plan ahead for a gift.
“The distinction of our parties is in the lasting memories crafted through our services, be it a custom-designed cake, a balloon installation, or personalized party favors,” Leena said.
TLPA hopes to become a community hub for families. Its in-house coffee shop, Avenue Brew, offers artisanal beverages from Scottsdale-based, family-owned Passport Coffee and Tea. There’s also a retail shop with products like creative playsets and books.
“I am most excited about the concept coming to life, seeing the joy on children’s faces as they interact with each playhouse and watching parents unwind and socialize in a space designed just for them,” Leena said. “Each corner is crafted with intention. It’s the anticipation of these little moments that brings a sense of excitement and purpose to our team’s efforts.”
TLPA is offering a 20 percent discount for all birthday parties booked through May 20, as well as an exclusive membership for $129 a month with a 3-month initial commitment. Members receive unlimited open play and a 15 percent discount on parties, retail and coffee.
